I have had a nice day today so far. Up early again and out with my lovely hound. Before going to the gym I did a little bit of painting in the house - only small areas where someone who will remain nameless has shook themselves when they were wet and made a right dirty mess. Anyway 2 areas of wall are now back to nice clean condition. At the moment I seem to be on a mission to make the best of the house and garden. Luckily I have lots of supplies in my garage. Went to the gym but the legs, bums and tums class was cancelled so I did 60 minutes on the treadmill. Bought a loaf of bread and a block of cheese whilst in town. I still havent had a trip to the supermarket since mid December so you can imagine how much food I had stashed. Anyway the tinned food cupboard is looking pretty empty but the freezer has a few odds and ends in it still. I am hoping to hold out till pay day at the end of the month. The cheese I bought today will make another cheese and onion pie as I have still got loads of onions, plain flour and cooking margarine which needs using up. I also called at our discount bakery again today. The strawberry pies I bought yesterday tasted wonderful so I decided to get a couple more before they sold out. I am going to portion them up and freeze them like I did the ones yesterday.
This afternoon I did a little bit of clothes shopping. I bought a beautiful red t-shirt from Sainsburys and I bought some silver costume jewellery to go with it. I also bought a leather biker jacket waistcoat. I did say at New Year that once I got down to my ideal weight I was going to buy some new clothes......so I am. I returned some size 12 skinny jeans to M&S which I bought a while ago and never wore. They are huge on me now so I got a refund and bought 3 packs of high legs with the money. Nothing wasted. After shopping I went to the cinema and saw "Olympus has Landed". Gerard Butler was very nice !!!
The plan for tonight is to tidy up a bit, have some food and strawberry pie, do my nails and have a nice relaxing read.
My tv licence has now been cancelled and I have received the form for a refund. I will be filling that in tonight too.
Anyway I hope everyone has had a great moneysaving day x0 -
Posting early today because I have a friend coming round this evening and staying over. Weather wise its been a dreadful day. Took Sid out very early then did a few chores when I got back - cleaned Audrey chicken, did ironing. Went to zumba at the town centre gym this morning and did a couple of errands whilst I was there. I have run out of washing powder so bought some washing gel from the pound shop. I will decide what I think when I next do any washing. I also posted off my refund for my TV licence. All being well they will credit me with about £50. Got drenched on the way back from town but soon felt alright after a lovely hot shower. Used up a tub of body moisturiser. I have carried on with the body brushing. I think it might take about 8 weeks if it is any good for the texture of my skin. I will keep my fingers crossed. I went to visit my aunty this afternoon in the nursing home. She is quite well but is completely away with the fairies IYKWIM. At least she isn't upset or in any pain.
I have started going through my old clothes again. I am going to be ruthless. For work I wear smart clothes and I have got a couple of outfits to wear that fit although I do need to buy some new black work pants soon. During the week I wear sports wear for all my running around. I have replaced most of my sports wear into size 8/10 and got rid of the rest. All my weekend clothes are casual smart items. I have decided to go through everything in my wardrobe and if it doesnt fit perfectly then its for the rag bag. I am only going to keep things which make me look and feel good. I have decided that I havent lost all this weight to wear a load of shabby, ill fitting clothes. Lets just say my rag bag is looking full. I am hoping to try on about 5 items a day and make a decision about them. This last few weeks I have bought 3 new outfits for weekends and they all fit perfectly and I feel great in them. I have also been making improvements at home. I have done loads of work on the garden and it looks brill. I still have one or two small jobs to do but I will have to wait till the rain stops.
My next project is my wash house. It is actually outside my house and has a separate door. The brick walls were painted year ago but look very shabby now with peeling paint. My plan is to brush the walls with a wire brush to get rid of all the loose paint. I have a huge tub of white emulsion which I plan to use on the walls and ceiling. However first I am going to have to empty it of all my collection of junk as I think this could be a bit of a dirty job. I hope the wash house will be a bit shabby chic when its done. The room has an old flagged floor and an old fashioned clothes airer on the ceiling. Got loads of plans for the room.......except when to start the work !!! Hopefully anything I do to the wash house can be done on the cheap using up stuff I already have.
I started a new book today. Its called "Far from the East End" by Iris Jones Simantel. Its the true story of an evacuee. Might get to read a few pages before my friend arrives.
Anyway I hope everyone has had a great moneysaving day x0 -
Hi Sidneysmum
A belated happy birthday from me! Sorry to hear about your aunt, I hope she settles into her new home quickly.
Also sorry to hear about your car even though it didnt cause you any stress its an expense you could do without. Shame you dont live near us, we run a garage and have just built a Cobra AC kit car so we are used to classics. We used to have a 1969 MG roadster too.
I have to agree with the others posters, your life sounds so full and you sound so contented it is lovely to read your diary. Your positivity is catching. In fact I have also started to use up my toiletries that have been hanging around, all those mini bottles you get in gift sets. Better to use those than buy new ones!
I could really do with taking a leaf out of your book on the healthy eating and exercising front though, I use the excuse of working fulll time but I am sure I could fit it in better if I tried.
Hope you have a lovely Sunday

Just want to say your post about not wearing clothes that are shabby and ill fitting really hit home. I've lost half a stone (only 5'2 so has made a big difference) but still got some clothes that just don't suit me. Going to get some better fitting things now
Well done to you xx

Hi princesst84 - Hi, Lovely to hear from you. My classic jaguar is presently sat in my garage but when I get a bit of time and money I am going to start hunting down someone who will be able to get in back into pristine condition. In the meantime I will just carry on with my little runabout!! I am so surprised when people comment that I am positive. This last couple of years have been a real roller coaster for me with my husband leaving but today was a bit of a landmark. I gave the only remaining TV in the house to one of my sons. My husband used to watch TV all the time but I never did....so the licence was cancelled last week and I am now TV less !!! Great ! Keep in touch x
Hi Diamond_sky - Thanks for posting. Well done on your weight loss. I have only bought about 3 outfits since shedding the weight but I feel as though I want to invest in me. Now I have lost weight i don't want to hide in clothes that blotted me out. I want to wear nice new things that make me feel good. Today I tried on about 10 things from my clothes pile and put the majority of them in the rag bag. Most days I just wear M&S leisure wear to walk the dog, do my jobs and go to exercise classes. I must have about 8 sets so I never run out. I have started to buy nice coloured skinny jeggins and smart tops to wear when I go out visiting, shopping or socializing. Keep in touch x
Got up a bit later today because my friend stayed but managed to get to the gym for just after 8am. Did 40 minutes on the treadmill then came home. Took Sid to the park. Big mistake. Lets just say she must have rolled in something which I cannot see but OMG she stinks to high heaven. The best thing is that she is so proud of herself and is obviously loving the smell. Think its fox !!! Anyway I have stayed in for the remainder of the day and its been really productive. I did my usual with British Gas and paid this weeks usage. I also painted some stone work round my front bay window which was looking rather shabby. Luckily I just managed to finish the first coat before the heavens opened. I have spent the rest of the day doing chores - emptied my wash house ready for whenever I get round to painting it, made a cheese and onion pie with store cupboard supplies, wrote a long letter to one of my sons friends who needs support and finally put the oven on and cooked loads of leftovers out of the freezer - small steak pie, parsnips and some oven chips. The freezer is almost empty now as is my tins cupboard. I will be doing some food shopping in a week or so. Not bad really - Not had a supermarket shop since mid December !!
My son came and took the TV away which felt great. It was a flat screen so he was really glad of it. I have just put a painting in its place. Perfect. My son also brought some leftover veg for my pets so I will sort that out soon. Going to paint my nails soon then have an early night with my book.
I hope everyone has had a great moneysaving day x0 -
Hi there
I just wanted to post and let you know that I have just finished reading your whole diary and you are an inspiration.
I am glad to read that you are now investing in yourself which is SO important. I wish I could be as active as you are but I am doing OK as I walk and cycle most days but from 20th May i am joining the gym attached to the university I am currently enrolled in, it is free so no more excuses. Onwards and upwards.
Namaste

Hi flanno - Lovely to hear from you. I am glad you are going to join your uni gym. Its not just the effects all the exercise will have on your figure, but the effect it has on your spirits. I always feel brilliant after going in the gym and i tend to stau ike that for the rest of the day. Good luck. Let us know how you are getting on x
Hi diamond_sky and princesst84 - Lets just say I have done a bit more investing in me today ! I popped along to Matalan (not my local one) but one further afield. I bought 2 tops and a pair of black wedge sandals. One of the tops is very clean looking in navy and white crinkle material so it will look perfect with jeans. The other top is a grey t shirt which is longer at the back than at the front and has fake jewels on the shoulder. Everything I bought is perfect for summer. I hope you ladies are doing a bit of self investment !!! x x
Today has been a good day although the weather has been shall we say changeable. We have had some sunshine and also hailstone. Very bizarre. I took Sid to the park very early then did a few chores before nipping to Asda. I bought milk and a jar of red Thai curry paste. The reason for the Thai paste is that I found 3 jars of coconut milk at the back of the cupboard and its the nicest way I can think of using it up. I just love Thai curry. Went to zumba at the out of town sports centre which was really good then had my visit to Matalan as it was nearby.
After showering etc I decided to get in a quick trip to the cinema as its work tomorrow. Boo !! I went to see "Dead Man Down" which was really good. Lets just say Colin Farrell. I didn't bother coming straight home after the film but called at the nursing home and spent an hour with my aunty.
Anyway tonight's plans are to get things ready for work in the morning then have an early night with my book.
I hope everyone is having a great moneysaving day x0 -

It will become my Mantra......
"Invest in Me.......Invest in Me........."I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0
