Hi Polesalot - Hope you have been full of beans today after last nights early night !
Had quite a nice day today. Up nice and early today to take Sid to the park then wandered up to the town centre gym. Did an hour on the running machine. Had a browse round the town centre car boot sale but didnt buy anything. Wlaked back home. All in all I collected carrier bags full of cans and bottles which had been dumped on our local streets. I didnt go out of my way to find them, I just picked them up as I was walking past. There are a lot of dirty lazy people who should hang their head in shame ! Hospital visiting this afternoon and my aunt is just the same - very poorly. My son has just been round and dropped his car off for me to use tomorrow. I am going to go and look at a couple of little cars for myself and if I like any of them (and they are still up for sale), I will buy one of them. My son has also dropped my off a bag of leftover veg from his works. I am feeling a bit tired tonight so I might deal with them in the morning. I have had the slow cooker on today and have made a massive chicken chasseur which I have portioned up into 4 good sized meals.
Not much else to report so I hope everyone has had a great moneysaving day x0 -
I am feeling very tired at the moment - Not physically tired but emotionally tired. All the events of recent weeks are catching up with me a bit and I hope that toady is going to be a turning point. My aunty is still very ill and I am still going to be visiting her as long as necessary, but I now have a little car. That will make things easier as I wont be walking 3 miles each way to the hospital every day. My original car is now in my garage and I will be making inroads into getting it sorted out. It is a classic car and is worth quite a lot of money so I need to get it back to A1 condition and get it on classic car insurance. It is actually a very beautiful car but I need to get one or two mechanical issues sorted at a specialist garage. Today I bought myself a little run around which I hope will last me 12 months at least. I just need something to get me to work twice a week and to the hospital at night. Everywhere else I walk as I really enjoy it. My little car was delivered by the garage this afternoon and I am thrilled to bits. Its taxed and insured with 12 months mot and serviced so its good to go. I feel as though a big weight has been lifted off me as I wasn't happy at keep borrowing my sons cars.
Anyway this morning I took Sid to the park and did the usual one and a half bags of recycling. Before going to zumba I submitted my weekly gas and electric readings to British Gas. I usually do it on a Sunday but the website wasn't working yesterday. Zumba was brilliant this morning but i didn't get chance to go in the gym as I was sorting my little car out. I decided to do a little test run in the car and went and bought some petrol and bought some milk and potatoes for me (£1.88).
The plan now is to have some tea and then go to the hospital to visit my aunt. I am hoping to also return my sons car back to him as I wont need to use it for work tomorrow. I think I need an early night with Jeffrey Archer !!
I hope everyone is having a great moneysaving day today. Its been a bit of a spend for me!! x0 -
Glad you've got a car sorted out. I couldn't do without mine. Maybe you should take it easy for a little while? You're doing so much exercise plus all the hospital visits, must be very draining. Don't forget to look after yourself too! It's not how far you fall - it's how high you bounce back.... :jHappiness is not a destination - it's a journey0

Hi Polesalot - Thanks for your caring words. Today has been far easier. I went to work in my little car and it was great thankfully. Also went to the hospital in it tonight which has saved me a round trip (walk or run) of 6 miles.
I went to work really early today and decided to call at the gym on the way home. I only did 15 minutes on the running machine and decided to get off. I was wearing different trainers than normal - big mistake. My shins were killing me. I wont be using them for running any more. They will be relegated to dog walking! Took Sid in the park for a short while after work (1 bag of recycling collected). My neighbour also came round to discuss the new fence. I really didn't want to spend any more money at the moment with having to get the car, tax and insurance yesterday, but I have to have jobs done at his convenience. He is a wonderful neighbour and only charges me the bare minimum for any job he does. He also does a brilliant job of everything. He is a perfectionist. I will have to catch up with my money next month !!
Just got back from the hospital visiting and the plan is bed with Jeffrey Archer. I am hoping to finish his 3rd prison diary either tonight or tomorrow so I can move onto another book.
I hope everyone is having a great moneysaving day x0 -
Up nice and early today with Sid and a quick trip round the park. Collected yet another bag of recycling from our dirty streets. I did a few basic checks with my new little car - oil, water, screen wash. Also decided to make some bombay potatoes in the slow cooker to use up some ingredients I had in the fridge and cooker. I then called at the library to collect a book I had ordered. Its - My journey with Farrah by Alana Stewart. Its about the last few years of Farrah Fawcetts life. I have started reading it already and its good.
Went to the gym and did 40 minutes on the running machine and then went to my zumba class which I really enjoyed. Spent £1 whilst I was in the town - some baby wipes from the pound shop. I use them for cleaning my face morning and night.
When I got home from exercising my neighbour had repaired the fencing. Unfortunately he had to spend about £50 but hey ho at least I have a fence that will last a few more years !!
Tonight has been the usual trip to the hospital to visit my aunty. Going to read a few more chapters of my book before I go to bed.
I hope everyone is having a great moneysaving day x0 -
Today has been very enjoyable. Had my usual early morning dog walk with Sid. Collected 2 bags of recycling whilst walking home from the park. Decided to use up more leftovers so put some steak, onions, green peppers and some red wine in the slow cooker and made 3 very big portions of beef in red wine. All ready to go in the freezer when they are stone cold. Had 2 use ups on the toiletries front - face cream and perfume. I did have loads of things that I had started and not used up - well they are pretty much gone now. I am going to have to start on the full bottles now.
Went to dance aerobics this morning followed by 40 minutes on the running machine. One of the gym instructors asked me if I would like to go to her legs, bums and tums class in the morning and see if I like it .....so I will be giving it a go !
Had a little spend today - £1 on a large bottle of screen wash for the car. Also I went to our local cake factory shop and bought 5 M&S swiss rolls for £1. I have just portioned them all up into small treat sized amounts and am going to put them in the freezer. Works out about 5p a portion.
This afternoon I decided to go to the cinema. I went to see "Promised Land" with Matt Damon. It was 0k. Went straight to the hospital for evening visiting tonight ......so my day has been busy. Going to get my feet up for an hour now with my book.
I hope everyone is having a great moneysaving day x0 -
Hi Sidneysmum - just wanted to say I enjoy reading your diary. Your excersie and weight loss is fantastic. I was amazed at how long your food stocks lasted you. I think I must have lived in a previous life as I alway stock up and buy too much (although nothing goes to waste) Chopped tomatoes and eggs are things I can never run out of! Thanks for the read:)Nutty Bird

Hi Nutty Bird - Thanks for going to the trouble of reading my ramblings. I am still eating up from stock in my store cupboard although I am getting very near the end of things. Today I bought 4 items of food - Milk, tin of corned beef (to make hash), and 2 sachets of sauce to use up the last of the meat in my freezer (one lot of pork and another lot of chicken). I hope I never stockpile such vast amounts of anything again. Most of my food has gone but I still have a cupboard full of toiletries - that's another story !!!
Had a nice day today. Up early again and off out to the park. Went to a new class at the sports centre this morning - legs, bums and tums. Really enjoyed it. I did want to go in the gym afterwards but every machine was taken. I called at the local bakery outlet again today (after considering things last night). I bought quite a few treats (£3.20), but cut everything up into small portions, bagged it all up and put it in the freezer. I love having a little treat at night after all the walking and exercising I do, so now I have a bit of a stock and its been very reasonably priced.
This afternoon saw me at the hospital again visiting aunty. I think she will be going into a nursing home maybe next week. I just hope we find somewhere local to my home so i can visit her a lot.
Tonight I am going to read my new book. Finished the one about Farrah Fawcett by Alana Stewart. It was very sad but also very inspirational. I am now reading a book I ordered from the library called "My secret sister" by Helen Edwards and Jelly Lee Smith. Its a true story about twins separated at birth.
Anyway I hope everyone is having a great moneysaving day x0 -
I had a lovely day yesterday. Had a bit of a change. The morning was just the same a usual. Out with my wonderful dog first thing then walked to the town centre zumba class for my usual morning dance ! I really enjoy it. Came home for shower etc then went to the Trafford Centre for an afternoon out with my cousin. She bought me a top for my birthday which is coming up soon and I bought one for myself from Wallis at Debenhams. I managed to use a gift card which has been in my purse since Christmas which was from one of my sons. Both tops are casual smart so I will be able to wear then either with jeans or with nice trousers. We had a lovely Chinese meal at the Yang Sing which was a nice treat and we also had a calorie laden hot chocolate break at a coffee shop. We then went straight to the hospital for visiting time. It has just been really nice to have a change and now I can fit in a size 10 it feels wonderful to buy some new clothes. Wish I had a bit more money !!!
Anyway I hope everyone had a great moneysaving day even though I didn't x0
