Where does the time go to ? Yesterday went by in a whirl. I was up nice and early and took Sid to the park. When I got back I used my electric slicer to cut up the now cold piece of gammon I had cooked in the slow cooker. Its now in individual boxes in the freezer waiting to be used up. I also made another bread and butter pudding in the slow cooker to use up all the bread, eggs and dried fruit I have in the cupboards.
Went to zumba at the town sports centre. Thoroughly enjoyed myself. Then it was home for a quick shower and off to the hospital for visiting time. There is no improvement with my aunt and we are having to start to look for a nursing home for her to live in. Anyway..............All I know is that last night I was absolutely tired out. I went to bed at 8.30 last night and got up at 10am this morning. I just slept and slept. I think all the stress regarding my aunts ill health and all the extra running around has just tired me out.
I feel a bit wishy washy this morning after all the extra sleep. I missed belly dancing so I have just taken the hound to the park. Its very breezy but so warm. I feel as though its blown a few cobwebs away !
Anyway I hope everyone is having a great moneysaving day x0 -
Yesterday turned into a really nice day. I submitted my meter readings to British Gas and made my weekly payment. I then went to visit my best friend who has just moved into a cottage out in the sticks. It was wonderful. Our day was spent nattering and we went for a lovely pub meal. It made a change having a meal cooked for me. And also I wasn't calorie counting. I could have what I wanted off the menu with out any guilt. After spending a lovely day with my friend I went to the evening hospital visiting to see my aunt.
When I finally got home after being out all day, my son had dropped off some leftover veg and bread from his workplace. I shall be sorting this out at some point today.
I hope everyone has a great moneysaving day x0 -
Had a great day today so far. After taking Sid to the park first thing, I walked to the sports centre where we had zumba. A new instructor started today and he was great so I will be going to his Monday morning class from now on. I then went in the gym for an hour before walking home. I stopped off at Asda and spent £5.50. Bought milk, a huge fairy liquid and 2 big bottles of double concentrate cordial.
This afternoon (or what was left of it) has seen me doing a few chores. I portioned up some bread and butter pudding I had made and put it in the freezer. I also sorted out the leftover vegetables my son brought me yesterday. They are either in the fridge or freezer all chopped up to give to my pets. Busy, busy. Also used up a bottle of shampoo, so thats another one to bite the dust. Still got loads of toiletries left but at least I am not having to buy anything.
Going to have a bit of a rest now before I get off again to the hospital to visit my aunty.

Had a really busy day today. I went to work extra early as I knew I had a lot to do and luckily I could set off home at 2pm. I called off and bought some LPG for my car. My LPG consumption has gone up recently due to my extra journeys to and from the hospital but hey ho...! Went to the gym and did an hour on the running machine. Once home I took her lady ship to the park for a run round then it was tea time before i knew it. This evening has seen me hospital visiting again. I think I am in this for the long haul.
Had a use up on the toiletries front - a jar of face cream. I have some more in stock so out of the cupboard it came !! Food wise I am still eating up and I haven't done any proper food shopping since mid December. I think I have enough to last me about 2/3 weeks before I have to have my first proper shop of the year. I have got lots in my fridge defrosting - fish pie, gammon, lasagne, home made soup.
Anyway I hope everyone has had a great moneysaving day x0 -
Had a good day today even though I have had a disaster tonight ! Took Sid out first thing this morning and did my usual collection of recycling from our dirty streets. Walked to town and went in the gym and did 30 minutes on the running machine. Had a mooch round the shops and bought myself a bargain gym bag for £2.99. Its very girlie and very pink ! I have been looking for one for ages and I was delighted it was so cheap. I then went back to the sports centre and went to the zumba class. This afternoon saw me at our local residents meeting which took care of a couple of hours. I managed to get to my WI meeting and had the misfortune for the gearbox of my car to pack in. My friend had arranged to meet me there to give me her old unwanted bread maker which I still managed to get off her. I then had to drive the car home in limp mode with a very red face!! I have put my car in my garage and its going to stay there until I make a decision as to what to do. I really only use the car to go to work twice a week and the rest of the time I pretty much walk everywhere. I am just going to leave things as they are for a few days and think about my situation. I know I could use my sons car to get to work, so I need to decide if I want to get my own car repaired or not. A few years ago I would have been tearing my hair out over not having a car. Well at the moment I couldn't care less !! As I have got older, I have got more chilled at what life throws at me. Its the same with spending loads of money and having tons of stuff in my house. I have re educated the way I spend. I am no longer buying big stocks of things. The other day I bought a very large bottle of fairy liquid - and I bought it because I had run out, or was about to ! A couple of years ago I would have bought at least a couple. Thats why I still have about 20 shower gels and 20 body lotions in my cupboard !! I don't want to get back to stockpiling stuff again. Anyway.....
I hope everyone is having a great moneysaving day x0 -
What a nuisance about the car but am loving your attitude.
Sorry to hear about your aunty. It's not how far you fall - it's how high you bounce back.... :jHappiness is not a destination - it's a journey0 -
Hi Polesalot - Thanks for dropping by. I am feeling really chilled abut the car at the moment. This morning I phoned a man who is able to repair my car. It is going to cost about £1200 just for the gearbox repair (the car is a classic so i knew it would be expensive) On the strength of that alone I have pretty much decided not to get it repaired until I have more money in my pot. So the plan for now is to get the car officially off the road, use my sons car to get to work and walk everywhere else. In the meantime if I see a small runaround I fancy, then buy it ! Plan made !!
I got up nice and early despite a dreadful nights sleep. The wind outside kept me awake and wasn't helped by a milk churn in my garden being blown over. When I got up I didn't take Sid out straight away due to heavy rain but went out about 8am. I then walked to the town centre gym and had an hours dance aerobics class which I loved. I then did 30 minutes on the running machine in the gym. I spent £3.78 in the town on toilet rolls and cat food. As I am now car less I think I am going to have to pick up items I need as and when I can as I will have to carry everything back home. Walked home then after my lunch I spent the afternoon doing some alterations to some of my gym clothes which were massive. I also read my book for at least an hour. Great ! The wind last night has blown about 25ft of fencing down in my garden. The wood was actually rotten, so a neighbour of mine who does lots of jobs for me came round to measure up and discuss making a new fence for me out of reclaimed wood. My neighbour is retired and i can always ask him to do jobs for me. He is brilliant and always does a proper job. He is now on the look out for me a small car !! Tonight I went to visit my aunty in hospital. Luckily my eldest son was able to drop me off and I decided to try and run the 3 miles back home. I am pleased to say it took me about 25 or so minutes. I was delighted as I haven't run outside for about 12 months.
Anyway that's another busy day over for me.

All your exercise is putting me to shame! I have only managed 2 runs and a pole class this week. I will be going for a bike ride this weekend and roller skating too. Hopefully the warmer weather will make me a bit more motivated.
I have also taken a leaf out of your book regarding paying off the mortgage. I have got the bank account details that i need to send any overpayments to. I have just sent £1.71 (to test that it's going to right account) and I will start sending an extra £100 from next payday and then any extra I can spare throughout the month :T
Your neighbour sounds nice. It's nice to have helpful people like that around when you're a single woman.
The wind kept me awake last night too :mad:It's not how far you fall - it's how high you bounce back.... :jHappiness is not a destination - it's a journey0 -
Hi Polesalot - Thanks for reading. You sound as though you are doing really well yourself at the moment. Good for you ! Great news about your mortgage overpayments ! x
Just sat down after a busy day, the plan being to get my feet up, read my book and eat some chocolate. Plan !!
I was up early this morning and off to the park with Sid nice and early. I sorted out a few domestics to do with my car and cancelled my insurance (0ver £350 being returned as I have only just insured it for the year), declared the vehicle SORN and asked for a refund on my car tax.
I went to the gym as as there were no classes I fancied today, I did an hour on the running machine. I went into Primark on the way home and used a gift card to buy 3 new t shirts for the gym and 10 pairs of gym socks. Hopefully this will cut down on the number of loads of washing I am doing. A lot of the time I am just putting the washer on when its only got a few things in it. Bought some milk £1. Last of the big spenders.
Went to visit my aunty in hospital this afternoon so I could have an evening at home. I started a new book today. Its the 3rd of the prison diaries by Jeffrey Archer. He is such a good author. Used up a small tube of shower gel today....still got massive stocks of stuff, but at least I don't have to buy much. I need to save every penny I can as I will possibly have to buy a new car in the near future. For now I am going to use one of my sons cars for work until I decide what my plan is.
Anyway I hope everyone is having a great moneysaving day x0 -
Up nice and early this morning and in the park with my lovely dog. Went to the town centre zumba class this morning which was a great class. Did 30 minutes on the running machine afterwards then walked home. After a quick break for lunch it was off to the hospital for visiting my aunt who is still very poorly. As she has been in hospital almost 3 weeks and there is little chance of her ever coming home, my cousin and I decided we needed to sort out the food at my aunty house. We decided to split it between us. So.....I came home with a few things for my freezer and a few tins. They will be used over the next few weeks. Obviously I would sooner my aunt be eating it, but at least its not being wasted.
Tonight I am going to get my feet up and I think I will be having an early night with Jeffrey Archer !!!
I hope everyone is having a great moneysaving day x0
