This is becoming bit of a habit now, NSD number 14 and honestly I am a wee bit miffed that stuff simply isn't moving out of the house as fast as I imagined.
I feel like I want everything gone before I dare buy anything for Christmas and have become slightly obsessed with what we're having for the next meal and how many things I can use up in the process. :eek:Mortgage

I will be calling for it tonight..“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Morning all.
A NSD weekend for me. Saturday I did some batch cooking and only left the house to go to the gym.
We made £52 at the car boot sale yesterday which was ok but I'd have liked to have made more. I guess these days everyone wants things as cheap as possible and I wanted rid of my tat.
Yesterday I used a Sainsbury voucher and nectar points to buy myself a big, fluffly, fleecy jumper to wear in the evenings as I'm starting to feel the chill when sat watching tv etc. so as no money left my purse/account I'm calling it a NSD.
Just ordered Hubby a pressie from Amaz0n using gift cards earned from surveys. I have a £5 off £12 spend in WHSmiths which may mean today could become a spend day IF the book he wants works out cheaper in Smiths with the money off voucher than it is on Amaz0n.
This week's meals include:
Lunch: chicken n veg soup with bread for me all week, Hubby's on butties.
Tea: fish pie, stew, chilli, HM breaded fish n chips (all in freezer from last week) lasagne (2 made on Saturday and frozen) and cajun beef n bean burgers (6 burgers made for tea yesterday, 4 have been frozen)
Very impressed with myself as I've only had one glass of wine ALL weekend (gone through 3 bottles of shloer though) Hubby's drunk his crate of beer and the rest of the bottle of wine, tut tut! I'm hoping when he weighs in on Friday he'll have put weight on and this will push him to cut back on the drinking, we'll see..
ETA: just updated my sig. I need 11 more NSDs and there are 11 days (not including today) left in November, hmmmm...
ETA: just spent too much money on xmas decs and lights in my lunch hour, I'm off to hide away from NSK!0 -
NSD 15 I am going to have to spend tomorrow and that will be my last spend day this month GULP and double GULP.
I am safely home from work early today as I started early. So no chance of spending today.
I have already made the money on Fleabay that I spent on my new to me coat so am feeling a little happy dance coming on.:j:j Was worth all the listing yesterday.
Sorry for making everyone crave hot choc but it is free (well if you have some in the cupboard)
NSK I too love a freebie hunt have you tried Hot uk deals they list freebies too. On the subject of takeaways I used to have at least one a week as a treat until I started recording spending and working out HOW MUCH it costs. i am a veggie too and to be honest it was never that nice. I now find I am practically incapable of buying a ready made pizza HM are so yummy. Have a good day everyone Love P0lly xJBFF # 20 NSD 12/25

Everhopeful09 you are another who has said they are avoiding the take away and checking the cupboard ( I think Wishing indicated she managed to avoid this at work yesterday )... what kind of take away do you get and may I ask how much you would spend per month on take-away pre MSE...??
Too much it's usually when I'm tired or cba to cook it's only myself I have to cook for. I have made a list of every bit of food and done a meal plan, surprised with the how much food I did have!
Everhopeful09 I am loving your attitude! The self imposing of rules is brilliant, no one is ever going to be a harsher critic than yourself. Let us know how it goes.. £60 is more than enough now go blitz Mr T...:T:T

£60 is in cash which I'm now don't want to spend and see how much I have left & put towards a debt. Got seperate Mr T vouchers so food shop is covered.0 -

Can't wait to see it!
I read every day & love hearing how you're all getting on.
If you remember I didn't join as I was just out of hospital at the time ..... but may be tempted in December?:)
NSDs are going well (currently on 14 & today should be 15) so should manage OK on that as that's a "normal" kind of month for me & I haven't been particularly trying to spend only on certain days. Planned spend days too as I live in a rural area so tend to do things like shopping / fuel etc on the same day to minimise fuel costs etc.
BUT my grocery bill is huge for 1 (medical condition & very restricted diet atm) so that's where I may fall down......Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)
2016 Sell: £125/£250
£1,000 Emergency Fund Challenge #78 £3.96 / £1,000Vet Fund: £410.93 / £1,000
Debt free & determined to stay that way!0 -
Hi, just dropping in to say hello and how well everyone is doing. So many NSDs, that's amazing! :T:T The good thing about this challenge, I think, is not only that everyone is managing so many NSDs and saving money to deal with our debts [or put a little bit away in our Secret Socks] but that all of us, participating or cheerleading, are thinking a lot more carefully about how we are spending, most particularly on our food bills, which I think is great. I'm with NSK, I never have takeaways because I think they are so expensive.[Our upbringing sounds quite similar in some respects!] It can be tricky cooking for one, I know; but if you imagine you are cooking for two, you always have a meal to freeze! My favourite quick meal for one, is good spaghetti, lots of grated Parmesan, lots of chopped parsley, and a slug of olive oil or [my preference] lump of unsalted butter. Apparently, it's what a lot of chefs cook to eat after a night in the kitchen, when they can't face cooking anything more complex. I could almost live off this!
Really rooting for you all, and for all us readers who are, slowly and surely, being 'drawn in....' Pay day tomorrow for me, so 4 nice shiny new envelopes, and from this week [*runs to check purse*] an impressisve £16.50 left in my purse. Even more impressive, because I took out £40 less for my envelope than normal, to try and see if I could join this challenge more than just in spirit. So, actually, I am £56.50 up!!! Blimey, if I can keep this up, those debts will have their a**es whipped by the end of next year if not sooner!!!0 -
Just a quick one for now.. It must be hard for those that get paid in the middle of the month . so I wonder if you MMY can be SUPER vigilant for the next 11 days and possibly then join in for Decembers challenge..? When do you get paid over the Christmas hols..? Same time or later/earlier..?
Rising I do indeed realize you couldn't join this month. Perhaps you could forfeit some other "treats" in order to keep the food budget the height it needs to be at.. although if you are happy to please share what your ailment is / allergies etc are.. its interesting to know how others eat..“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence.
