Morning Chickadees..
I am wrecked. What I would've given for a longer snooze! I was up wrapping eBay gifts ready to go when I get home and make a mad dash by foot to the post office before it closes. This is why I need a new rucksack - I could have carried them to work and posted them here. Hummph!
Rachel don't panic.. we can help you! I want to know though where you went wrong? Did you plan for the month and take money out to cover arrangements..? Did you say no to dinner out with friends etc..? I am not here to judge, simply to guide but I DO NOT want you to get so upset that you don't come back to play... tell us what happened. I hope you are not ill etc... when you say you have failed does that mean and excess in shopping and no NSD's or have you increased your debt..? Come on sweetheart lets have it.... big hugs though for being brace enough to tell us all!!
I haven't heard from the boys in a while.. hope they are still going strong I Will Win and Abundant.....?
WishingMyLifeAway... if its planned then its an NSD. I am going to clarify all the little bits that have raised their head in this challenge for December. Its a learning curve for me as well as I haven't done this before. But I appreciate you checking...:T
JamieDodger and Siouxsie well done on the NSD's. JD glad you had fun in Birmingham though.. and coming back with £25 is very good! Siouxsie actioned packed day planned? Spill..??
GelMC - check you out with your pennies rolling in! £20 mystery shop sounds brilliant - do you do many of them? ..and I used to HATE broad beans. Daddy grew them in the garden as well - they grew to 6 ft or more and we were eating them for months. Even our springer spaniel wouldn't eat them if Mummy gave him leftover soup. He would suck the soup out and leave the BB on the bottom of his dish.. then my friends served them to me in a little white onion, dill, oil, lemon juice and wrapped in greek yoghurt.. my version is adapted to that and whizzed..
I am just determined to be healthier..
Everhopeful09 you are another who has said they are avoiding the take away and checking the cupboard ( I think Wishing indicated she managed to avoid this at work yesterday )... what kind of take away do you get and may I ask how much you would spend per month on take-away pre MSE...??
I am always amazed at this as its something I rarely do... Maybe cause we were SO poor when I was young the idea of a take out is a MASSIVE treat and I have deemed it unnecessary in the long run...I can't honestly remember the last time I had a take-out.. possible chips with my Dad the last time I went to Ireland en route back from the Airport.. although before that it would have been a year..?
Mum ( I mention her a lot as my deep imbedded fear of debt has come from her, she is and always will be the most illustrious influence on my debt-recovery journey )... would always make her own pasta sauce, chips, pizza and bread. She was a stay at home mother as most were when I was born ( 1983 in Northern Ireland )... she has perfected hand made bread ( no bread machine ) over the years and now I know what she went through spending all that time proving the dough twice, cooking it then having it devoured by us within a day!
She eventually took to baking 3-4 loaves in one day.. our house smelled amazing! Chips and pizza on a Friday night were our treat now and then... most other days it was lentils and brown rice with home made tom sauce and cheese, with a side of broccoli.. ( I later learned that the protein in brown lentils and the carbohydrate in brown rice, together are the most potent and usable form of protein / carbs the body could possibly take in - with lentils producing 90% usable protein compared to 10% from a steak )
Mother had this home baking malarky down, the taste of home made is like no other. I am still astounded by folks who survive on 3-4 take outs a week, never mind the money side of things..
Now I know people buy it sometimes as a treat, giving themselves and their OH a night off from cooking. Completely understandable.. I am just intrigued as to how much is spent by what could be classed as a "normal" household...
Everhopeful09 I am loving your attitude! The self imposing of rules is brilliant, no one is ever going to be a harsher critic than yourself. Let us know how it goes.. £60 is more than enough now go blitz Mr T...:T:T
For those concerned about the length of January being a 5 week month.. have no fear..a lot of businesses pay their workers early which never helps. But with the execution of a distinctly tight, clear and well thought out December you will be able to hit January with a big stick! Providing you all steer clear of the SALES!!!!
Signing off for now... keep the postings coming... good or bad lets hear it.. We are nearly there - 12 days to go... WHOOP!!!!

Oh, just work...action packed but not very exciting! I'm currently hanging about the tube station waiting for off peak travel to startGot a flask full of soup and I whizzed up a banana smoothie to curb those late morning munchies so it'll be another NSD!
Took some bolognese style sauce from the freezer this morning so it looks like my menu is complete!
Hope everyone has a nice day0 -
A tube lurker??.. exactly what I would do!“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. I'm going to have to bow out of this challenge. In retrospect, with needing to get so much for the house, it wasn't really realistic, and not having internet has meant I couldn't come on here for inspiration when I needed to. However I'm still on the NSD challenge, even though I won't hit the goal, and I just want to wish everyone here good luck! Kick debt in the goolies!HSBC Credit Card £608.69, HSBC Overdraft: £4123.67, HSBC Loan: £8,270.69
Lloyds Credit Card: £1418.62, Very Account: £518.99, Barclaycard: £126
Total Debt as of 9th June 2020: £15066.660 -

A little something to read. Not like we MSE'er didn't know this already..??
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2235000/Multi-buy-deals-mean-pay-MORE-One-offers-increase-price.html
This is being added cause it makes me FUME! I am a vegetarian but you meat eaters out there DO NOT know what you are getting when you buy cheap meat...
I truly believe only butchers should be used and farms for eggs and with the cutting of money used on other products slightly more expensive meat should be do-able..... GRR ARG!!..;- )"Now, of course, it is not illegal to sell food past its sell-by date, but it is store policy at both Sainsbury's and Tesco that once the food has passed that date, it shouldn't be available to customers.
Despite this, I regularly saw food being sold beyond its sell-by date on the fresh food counters at both supermarkets. Staff would simply wipe out existing dates and write in later ones!At Tesco, we saw at least five members of staff recycling old food or altering dates. Indeed, there were times when the staff had no idea what the real sell-by date of their products were as they had been altered so many times.".

Thank you NSJ. When DS is asleep I'm going to catch up on what I've missed on here. Are you going to be doing the same challenge in future, because I'd really like to join in then.HSBC Credit Card £608.69, HSBC Overdraft: £4123.67, HSBC Loan: £8,270.69

I am planning a slightly kinder version for December... it should be posted by Saturday night hopefully or Sunday. I need people to get in tune with what is expected however I am taking into consideration the holiday season and the stresses and strains it brings!
