Another NSD today for me, taking me up to 17. Being a novice when it comes to ebay I was suprised to see that three of my ebay items already have watchers, let's hope they also start bidding some time. One of them has a bid but it's only 99p, heyho, every penny counts :). Also gonna post my music magpie parcel tomorrow after forgetting that I had to print the label, doh.

Just been doing a delve through the back of the cupboards and found some dried milk powder. Not very nice for tea, but fine for coffee, so some of the frozen stuff will last a bit longer.
I've also switched to mainly fruit teas, so that is saving on the milk, and plenty of water with a splash of cordial with meals.

I'm becoming almost puritanical about money and avoiding spending it. I don't think I will be able to do the same for December - too many Birthdays as well as the Main Event on the 25th, but everything is budgeted for, hand made gifts, cards, and some party food, so hopefully there won't be the 'OUCH' factor this year when we check the lists.

  • OOOOh SKintSue...CAREFUL!! You are starting to sound like ME!!!! I am on the herb teas as well.. who ever thought green tea and jasmine would be nive...and fennel..? I am going to switch to Dandelion Coffee.. not real coffee, better black and sweet enough to not need sugar...big tub should last ages...£7 though!

I am SO puritanical about money its gonna be a FUN December.. Really glad you are up for this as I am finalising Dec challenge in my head and you have given me ideas...

Was also wondering about milk powder, glad you said a "no" to tea..saves me buying it and finding out the hard way..."eughhh"...

Was a bit of a spendy weekend but i am happy with it. :o and nothing that should affect my overall DFD i hope.

Well plan to stay on target rest of the month which will be easy as def no spends from saturday onwards due to hols, will have to spend tomorrow but should be under £10 at supermarket - i am on the road all day so have to stop anyway. toalite-smiley.gif needs must :rotfl:

Hoping to meet about 21 Nsds overall which i am very happy about considering my normal nsds are almost 0 :o and i am keen to organise December - Please sign me up Kat for whatever it is, i am not able to access internet on my hols so not back online from saturday to 4 Dec - so will be starting with 3 NSDs in the bag :D I have a couple of planned do's but shouldnt be expensive ones and i am determined not to sales shop wagfinger2-smiley.gif

Keep up the good work everyone, even if some of us dont fully reach the goals i am sure we have all learnt something about our spend habits this month and i know i have really thought about anything i have had to buy and havent just slung stuff in the trolley :D

Skintsue The dried milk is better if you make it up properly and it tastes fine in tea and coffee then. I used it last month rather than have a spend day. Today was a spendy day but was spent on a friend so I am OK with that. It does mean I have NO SPEND DAYS left now. That is scary. Hope you all had a good day P0lly x

Go on then - ONLY because it is having a super affect on OH and he is noticing a difference!!!
Thaaaaaanks, and guess what, I didn't need to buy any in the end. yipeee! :j
    Hi everyone!!!

OMG - talk of December and January already!!! Gawd. I guess it has also been lurking at the edge of my mind too!!! Is good to see there is interest though...

I'd also been bought a presie from work colleagues and I plucked up the courage today to ask if I could return it... Was so hard - as I didn't want to appear ungrateful - but they'd spent £50 on a gift!!! Really generous - but I couldn't justify spending it on jewelery I might wear now and again... I realised I could only get a gift card if I returned myself (as was paid for by a card) and was going to sell it to a friend for £30 (for the inconvenience) and I thought NO! This is stupid. I took a deep breath and was honest, and said with my current financial state and goals I would really get a lot more from putting the money to a practical use - so to either buy me supermarket cards or get a cash refund... £50 is like 2.5 weeks shopping on this challenge for me!!! I got a text back and they said it was fine!!! I feel bad still but proud too... Am holding out and staying true to myself...I just hope they really do understand that I appreciate it - LOTS!
Awwwww this is so brave of you, how did it go? Good for you, I hope they appreciate your honesty :money:

I too like the idea of Die hard December, and Just say NOOOO January :rotfl:Ready for these if I can. :D

I've been trying to catch up but I find it hard to read too much from a computer screen, must check in more often, I do read my emails so I see most of what is going on :)

I am plodding away with my NSDs and I am still getting creative in the kitchen, making sure that we use things up before buying new and being careful with what we DO buy :D

I don't think I will make 25NSDs but I hope it will be close!!

Oh yes, forgot to say, I am currently on NSD no.13 :rotfl:

    Don't turn a slip up into a give up:D

  • Welcome to my world Kiwi.. and it was you who was after my Mums egg-less sponge cake wasn't it...

I will be calling for it tonight..

No, wasn't me but now you've planted seeds of nostalgia in my mind as I had thing about fatless sponge cake when I was a wannabe cook in my teenage years. I made endless quantities of swiss rolls and fruit flans *sigh* I am now thinking about what I could use in place of Quick Gel - I have never seen it here. :(

I started this challenge resigned to the fact that I wouldn't make the pass mark of 25 NSDs, however it's still a disappointment to now be at the point when this is inevitable because I have no spend days left.

I reached a new low tonight when it dawned on me that we were on the last dribble of milk and I have none for my coffee in the morning. So tomorrow WILL absolutely have to be a spend day. It's perhaps something we could all do with learning to be less reliant on fresh milk, it's not as if I even like the stuff. :rotfl:
