Surely they havent designed it with a 600mm space and 600mm extractor?
The hood just fits in between the units on each side, maybe a couple of mil space each side.
The wall units finish in line with the hob edge vertically, and are 350mm above it (measuring from the top of the burners), the hob is 70cm and the hood is 70cm and is 75cm above the hob (measuring from the top of the burners), The units should be min 5cm away from the edge of the hob at each side, and a min of 45cm above it (measuring from the top of the burners). and the height of the hood is ok. Looking at all the main suppliers they all say as the gas fitter says.
The dimensions are universal for gas hobs, not just our new one.

However, what do the MIs for the hob say?

Not quite. If the bottom of the units (including the pelmet ) are less than 450mm vertically from the top of the hob then there must be a 50mm horizontal gap to the side of the hob.
However, what do the MIs for the hob say?
Cheers
No the minimum height is 450 and there must be a 5cm gap from the hob edge, I have 350 and no gap vertically the edge of the units are in line with the edge of the hob.
The MI's say exactly the same as the Gas Fitter says, and all the other manufacturers I've looked at say the same.0 -

yes that's i was trying to say, however sorry to press a point but all hobs aren't the same, it seems to me you are reading the BS measurements or the measurements the installer gave you, hobs are installed to the meaurements in the installation instructions for YOUR HOB, so if you could humour us & tell us these measurements not the general ones you have been toldI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

They are the MI's measurements i'm quoting, and NEFF, Baumatic, Bosch all say the same.
I cant post a link as i'm a newbie user.0 -
Then there is something wrong here with the design Tall units are normally built so when the wall units are fitted the 450mm vertical separation is achieved. A 350mm gap between bottom of wall cabs and top of worksurface is really far too small. Alternatively I'm starting to wonder if the fitters have actually installed the floor and wall cabs properly in the first place.

I agree with KS the cupboards do sound low or the worktops too high (normally worktops are around 900mm off of the floor) thats why i was trying to get the measurements from your hob instructions as they may have been different, i had this arguement with Magnets a few weeks ago the MI stated 680mm to the above cupboard & there was only 640mm so i refused to fit the hob, builder phoned them & the guy from magnets disagreed with me so i said phone the manifacturer, he did & phoned back 10 mins later & said he was wrong but i was the first installer in 5 yrs to have brought that up with the same hob & kitchen, so the builder had to raise the extract upI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
