HI my daughter is making 15 friends a "hug in a Mug" for xmas and is putting in homemade choc brownies, hot choc sachet, bag of chocolate eclair sweets and choc spoon. The problem is sourcing the mugs and how does she make the spoons?
The eclairs were 10p a bag hot choc 10p a sachet and brownies will work out about 20p per person so really need cheap mugs as ideally have a budget of £1 each for the whole thing
The idea is to fill the mug and then wrap in cello and a bow.
Do you think this is ok?0 -

Keep an eye on local £1 shops and also on FB selling groups - Even IKEA white mugs would be great if she got a sharpie and wrote a personal message on each mug and baked it to setCould be very cute

I guess it depends how personalised you want the mugs to be. I've been doing something similar and poundland, home bargains and B&M have been brilliant.
I paid 79p for a floral one and 99p for various "Keep calm and.." and Animal mugs.
B&M had cupcake mugs 99p each or 2 for £1.50 which were very cute and would be perfect for teens or adults.
If you were just thinking of plain/spotty/striped mugs Morrisons do them for 79p so I assume other supermarkets would be similar.
Hope this helps x0 -
Just been In poundland and they have some adorable little mugs with knitted cosies on! Really lovely but they are not massive so might be too small for this purpose. I think they have photos of them on their website but I can't post links as m new
Do they need to all match? If not why not try car boot / charity shops? Hope this helps0 -
Home Bargains have lovely Christmas mugs for 49p. I have been using these for the hug in a mug idea and they are perfect.0

As your budget is 1.00 each then I would be looking for plastic mugs,Poundland have a set of 4 festive ones, and also plastic spoons. You make the spoons by dipping in melted chocolate, cooling and dipping again until the bowl of the spoonis full.
Lovely little gift I bet your DD friendds will be impressed.Slimming World at target0 -
Thanks will try Poundland and did get a pack of Asda basic bugs for £1.79 for four yesterday so will give these a go with the Sharpie idea and see how it goes.
I've just had an email from school asking for all of the juniors (one of my daughters is eight) to make a tree decoration to sell at a school fair. The Fair is next week. Has anyone any ideas?
Many thanks0 -

I don't know if its any help. but can you knit or can you get someone to knit it for you, its a mini christmas stocking, I'm doing a wack as DD is sharing my stall at our school fair and were putting a mini choc bar in them.
The pattern -
Oddments of Double Knitting wool and pair of no 8 / 4mm needles
Cast on 20 stst
Rows 1 to 4 - k2 p2 to end, - gives a double rib
Rows 5 to 16 Stocking Stitch (1 row knit, 1 row purl)
Next - Knit 12 sts
Next - turn Purl 4 sts
next - turn knit 6 sts
next - turn purl 8 sts
next - turn knit 10 sts
next - turn purl 12 sts
next - turn knit 14sts
next - turn purl 16sts
next - turn - knit to end
(on reverse side)
Stocking Stitch 7 rows (begin with purl row)
Next Knit 2 tog to end of row (10 sts)
Next Purl 2 tog (5 sts)
break yarn, thread through the 5 sts and sew up the seam. Your having a mini stocking
To make a chain at top of stocking, pop the needle through and make a stitch do a small chain 1stitch, knit a small chain cast off, sew on the stocking for loop. xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -

Wonderful idea! - have you tried looking in the local charity shops - the ones around here have got all their Xmas themed things out at the moment - there were some really lovely Xmas-sy mugs in the local Oxfam for 50p0 -
