  • Hi
What a great thread, Christmas is going to be VERY tight for us this year, so we have agreed to only buy for the littlies. However my little boy and me are going to make little Christmas cakes in empty small bean cans, pop some royal icing on top and we've bought some cute Christmas cake decorations from Aldi this week. We'll wrap them in cellophane and ribbons, so he has a little pressie for his Nana, Grandad, Grandma and Aunties :) I'm sure cos he made them, they'll like them!!

Here is the xmas tree decoration dd aged 8 and I made today. we needed o.5mtr of ribbon and beads, I used an old bracelet so the cost was 50p and a bit of time.

Thanks everyone as always very helpful
I can't upload an image but it is from Martha Stuart and if you put Martha Stuart Ribbon Candy in google it shows you the decoration
  • i used paint i had, now you know what colour our hall is :o
2 coats, fine sanding between coats

i just used a black sharpie. i did the 1st one with a pencil 1st, but that was a bad idea
    so freehand is better

practice on paper, its an incredibly easy font to master
draw round one of your plaques onto paper to get size and placement while practicing

i got my blanks from ebay

the cupcake string is butchers string

I've made 10 little "home sweet home" plaques, thanks to midnightraven3. :) I feel inordinately proud of my handiwork.

    More, more ideas - please!!

Thank you so much for this! I am so inspired!!

I am going to 'try' and make candy wreaths.... you simply get a wire coat hanger and cut of the 'hanger bit' and then twist the ends together to make a circle.. you then tiw on sweets all around the edge making sure they are tight and fasten a bow or holly at the top - finished! I will post a pick once I have made one!

Also, where do I find the wooden plaques? What do I search in ebay? I can only find ready decorated ones... I owuld like the heart shaped ones and the rectangle ones... xx

I made a tulle Christmas tree from an old pine kitchen roll holder, spray-painted gold and gathered tulle (net) fabric. Instructions you know where.
I was going to put it away until December but it's on my dressing table now :T
