How much is your gas bill monthly and how much is your electric bill monthly?

£80 a month for both and I have just broken even over the year, so no extras t pay. We live in a 3 bedroom detached house but were away quite a lot in winter last year so hardly used anything for 3 months or so.0

Four bed detached.
Gas £41 a month
Electric £44 a month.
British Gas. I've been with them since 1984.

Do we think energy prices are likely to rise again over the next 12mths? I need to change plan today but not sure whether to get a fixed tariff or the current cheapest (to me) which will cost £40 a year less assuming no price increase.“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0

It's difficult to compare usage without taking into account all the factors:
Where you live
what type of accommodation
State of insulation, windows etc
How many people in house
Etc
... and whether your monthly payments are artificially low to hook you in and you are about to face a big shock when they review your direct debit.
You often get people boasting about how low their bills are (not saying anyone is doing that on this thread) but they often forget to mention they live in a flat (that loses less heat) or that they are the types of people that are always hot or that they live down south in a sheltered area. I could go on.
I do find most of these threads pointless. Unless people detail their usage, knowing other people's monthly payments is meaningless.
I am always surprised when friends and collegues switch energy suppliers and tell me what a fantastic deal they have because their monthly payments have been reduced by £10 or £15. Yet when I ask them about their annual or monthly consumption they don't know it.
I always use my actual usage for a whole year when switching, otherwise I don't think you can compare properly.0 -

Ditto! Surely, unless they've lived in a property less than 12mths, they can easily calculate whether their monthly DD matches their annual usage/expenditure. Not exactly rocket science“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -
I couldn't tell you my annual usage without looking it up but I'm £40 something in credit with the gas and even with the electric."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0

1 Bed Flat, Careful user
£13 Electric
£20 gas Winter months only
TIP: Always fill the kettle with the correct ammount for a cup of tea and no more! Fill tea cup with water then pour it into the empty kettle.0 -
3 bed mid-terrace 2 occupants 3 on occasion
On a pre-payment meter (due to an incident with British Gas I will NEVER have DD on utilites again)
Gas - £13
Electric - £30-40
Gas is so low as I hardly use it. Only gas items in my home are water heater and cooker.
For heat I use a Calor gas fire in the front room only and that is £35 roughly every 8 weeks (which I haven't included in the above)First Date 08/11/2008, Moved In Together 01/06/2009, Engaged 01/01/10, Wedding Day 27/04/2013, Baby Moshie due 29/06/2019 :T0 -

We've just come out of the summer I would expect a monthly payer to be in credit. Anyone who was not in credit on their last bill is going to be in for a shock after the winter.0 -
Well I just did our reading last night so two of us in a three bed semi on Economy 7 with Scottish Power, Direct Debit of £50 but we are in Credit by £52.
That includes all of our gadgets and cooking, and electric shower usage, the thing that probably makes it rather low is that we don’t have central heating so we don’t go round with shirtsleeves and the heating on when it starts to get a bit cold. It's not easy having a good time. Even smiling makes my face ache.0
