Another update in this farce:

Returned home on the 28th to find a note through my door from the Police asking me to contact them asap. They wish to serve me with another summons. I have contacted copfs:

I have just had a notice from Grampian Police that they want to serve me with another citation. Presumably this is in relation to the case against Mr DEF?

I am very disappointed that copfs have not even replied to two letters asking that I be excused from giving evidence and wish to make a complaint. Please advise how do I do this?

and their reply

My understanding is that you were not to be cited in respect of the case against DEF. I shall look into this and get back to you shortly.

Three days later and I am still waiting. You will note, they have ignored my request to make a complaint.

I decided to make a formal complaint. Today, I received a long letter from the Principle Procurator Fiscal Depute:

I do wish to assure you that this is not the standard of service that I would hope to offer members of the public and it is with considerable regret that I have noted the failings in this case. I can assure you that your experiences in this case will be used to highlight to staff the need for greater care in dealing with cases and the witnesses involved in them
