    Mr sharma,
Trying to help others and be a good neighbour is what got me into this situation.

    bod,
That is a cut and paste of the e mails I received and my response.

I am disappointed to report, I never did get any response to my telephone calls and letters requesting I be excused from giving evidence due to my concern that this would expose my family and I at risk of further retribution.

Pretty sure that if you've been summoned to give evidence, then you don't get a choice in it. and if your evidence is important to the case, and they don't think you'll turn up then you'll get hit with a summons.

Missile I appreciate that this will be too late to be of any help to you now, but may hopefully help out somebody reading your thread in the future. I have been required to give witness statements to the police on several occasions and each time I have always given my address as care of the police station where my statement is being recorded. I was initially advised to do this by a police officer who was concerned about my personal safety. This was never questioned and indeed seemed to be accepted as normal by the courts.

Scheming_gypsy, Had I failed to attend attend without permission, a warrant could have been issued for my arrest.

I know and I've offered you a reasonable riposte for what you could possibly do next. If you feel like you've been unfairly treated, make a complaint to the IPCC or write to your local MP for advice or assistance.

    Thanks for your suggestion.
I have no complaint with the police, rather the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service. I have written to them expressing my disappointment. They did not even have the courtesy to reply. I do not feel inclined to pursue any further what I feel would be a waste of my time.

Good suggestion, I shall try that if I am rash enough to make a statement in the future.

Which is what your MP might be able to help you with.

I could go on about the banal mission statement for the copfs "looking after the victims of crime", but I don't feel inclined to start a crusade. I feel quite relaxed now that I have had my rant.

Thankyou to the good people on MSE for listening to my story. I feel sure there are many who could tell a much more harrowing tale than I.

I have just been a victim of threats. Maybe all of you could have a look in here and let me know what you think.
