Many thanks for your tactless comments, during what has been a distressing time for my wife and I.
At which point I suggest you really should get in touch with Victim Support over this. They are helpful and this is exactly the type of thing that they will care about. Having been there myself, I recommend their services. Lashing out may be understandable, so I'll go with the benefit of the doubt.... It's meant as a helpful suggestion and it's very sad when people choose to interpret things that aren't there in the worst possible way.

How should one interpret this comment?
But thanks for the accusation.......always nice.....
As I already explained, I have contacted victim support and they were not helpful to me. There is no doubt in my mind ............ your remarks were not helpful.

I think if I was going to report a crime that could get someone banged up I would do it anonymously and I would report it from a phone not registered in my name.

Defendents are advised the names and addresses of all prosecution witnesses. It is their right to know who their accusers are.

That is madness on the Police's behalf! Who would report something and give a witness statement if the person you are accusing will find out. So much for anonymity. Put me right off.

I thought I would give an update:

I have still not received a response to my telephone calls and letter to the CPS Victim Support. Twice I have been contacted by the police and I have told them I did not wish to make a further statement and explained my concerns. Their response is to issue a citation. :(

I am between a rock and a hard place. I really do not want to appear in court and give evidence for fear of further retaliation, but it seems I have no alternative. I have been told if I do not appear in court to give evidence I will be arrested.

I wrote to them on 17th December explained once again that I was in fear of further retribution and asked to be excused from being a witness. To date I have received no response.:(

What a farce, but unfortunately the joke is on me and I don't find it very funny :rotfl:

I used to critiscise those who were reluctant to help the police. Next time I witness a crime, I will look the other way too.:A

Sorry I missed the december update.

When you say their response is to issue a citation, what do you mean by that?

As for being told if you do not give evidence in court you will be arrested, that is not true. You should have been advised this is a possibility but is not set in stone, this is down to the judge (CC) or Magistrate (MC) if they wish to issue a witness summons. It is only if you fail to appear for the witness summons they have the option of issuing a warrant for your arrest.

For the witness summons to be issued you will need to fail to turn up for the arranged trial date.

When is the trial date, doesnt have to be exact How far away?

    Hi keyser,

Thanks for your comments, please be advised:
You are cited to appear on Monday, 21 January 2013 ... and any postponed dates, as a witness .....

This is the paragraph in BOLD, which was pointed out to me by the Officer of Law when I expressed my concern at being compelled to attend court.
IF YOU DO NOT ATTEND COURT WITHOUT A LAWFUL EXCUSE THE COURT MAY ORDER THAT YOU BE APPREHENDED AND PUNISHED

The first diet was on 08th Jan. I will not have to give evidence, if the accused pled guilty. I have asked copfs to confirm, but once again they have yet responded to my request.

Glad that is clarified that you may be arrested, although not oftn used to be honest. Is it in Magistrates (I suspect it is) or crown?

Have you spoke to the OIC?
