I stand corrected. Please note: They were given our name and the address where the crime was allegedly commited.
There are circumstances where the address would be known, ie the issue occurred at the victim's address or they were burgling a house and saw the next door neighbour come out to challenge them, those sort of scenarios but all efforts should be taken not to divulge the address and any witness addresses need to be submitted on another MG form.

As technology has moved on it is pretty easy to find out where people live what with the internet, things like UK Info disc or 192.com

Well, regardless of the legalities they know who and where you are!
I'm afraid that the best way forward is to move! I know that is wrong but these types and their friends will hound you for years and years if they know where you are. Sorry but that is the way I see it from what happened to some good friends several years ago and don't expect the police to help, all they want is to close the case with a conviction.

Sadly, I'd have to say I'd mind my own business. Unless, of course, there was injury to any person. Then I'd give a statement and just take my chances.

As you probably know the wheels of justice move incredibly slowly. It is 6+ months since my wife's car was vandalised. I am hoping the scrotes have forgetten about us now, but if we make another statement, .............

I have to agree with you re help. FYI, We got a nice letter from the PF advising us of victim support . We responded giving details of the vandalism and our suspicion that this may have been witness intimidation. We did not even get a reply to our letter.

This really surprises me. A few years ago I made a statement after an incident and since I did not want to be identified, they made arrangements for me to give evidence from behind a screen. No personal details were passed on that I'm aware of (and it would surely be madness to hide my face while giving them my name and address?!). If this is how it works, it shouldn't be. Victim support were very helpful for me and answered any questions I had - might be worth a phone call to them to just work out what's going on.

I wrote and when I did not get a response I phoned. He asked what evidence I had it was the scrotes who had vandalised my car and more or less told me I was paranoid. The guy was not at all sympathetic .

I had a phone call from police tonight and he was not pleased when I declined to give him another statement. As has been suggested, I am sure they just want to cancel this incident off their crime statistics.
