A personal opinion or view point can't be objective. I can, however, provide you with some subjective views.0 -
but you have no experience of the product in question apparently so you are forming personal opinions with no basis apart from using some ios products in the past and an andriod phone
I assume you have tried the latest incarnation of andriod running on the nexus 7?This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

I'm basing my opinion on my use of many Android phones and tablets, many iPhones and iPads, and many Widows Phones. The iPad Mini isn't a million miles away from all of the other products I have already tried, so I don't see how forming an opinion on it is so incomprehensible.0 -
So, if you want a pleasant mapping experience, don't both with the overpriced ipad mini (and I own an ipad 2 FYI) - not that it has GPS on the wifi model.
Now, you could get yourself a nice nexus 7 16gb for £199 (soon that'll be 32gb for that price) which will give you the rather awesome Google maps (I mean the proper Google maps - vector driven, offline mode, driving/walking/public transport directions)
Look, i like iOS. It's simple, it's very 'non-techie friendly'. The 'walled garden approach' is very good for apps in some respects. It's not the be all and and end all though - Android has a lot of things going for it that iOS doesn't (home screen widgets, a file structure, better use of bluetooth, better integration between applications)
Horses for courses.. but you aren't the only one with 'much knowledge of these products'
After 2 years of android, i was willing to give Apple a try for my new phone. They then released a butchered mapping system and I couldn't 'downgrade' my experience; since i rely on my maps when i'm out and about with my phone0 -

I'm not claiming to be the only person who has knowledge of these products. There are some things that Android does better than iOS, and there are some things that iOS does better than Android. I make my choice based on which one does the things I want, better.0 -

so why are you saying the ipad mini is the best small tablet when you haven't used it, or the rival offerings? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Because its the only one running iOS.0 -

And others will make their decision based on a Google Nexus 7 costs £199 (16gb) and an Ipad Mini costs £269 (16gb). That 35% more expensive. Its also likely they'll drop the 16gb Nexus down to £169 soon; so that'll be a fun £100 difference (59% difference in price)
Running iOS does not qualify it as 'the best' (especially if you fancy getting from A to B with your portable device). Maybe that's why they never bothered adding GPS to it to save disapointment0 -

if you haven't experienced ios or android running on these specific devices you have no idea how either performs or which one would do what you want "better" as you put it - all you are saying is that you will blindly buy something with ios because you don't "think" anything is as good, rather than actually trying something before forming opinionsThis is a system account and does not represent a real person.
