They've released a poster that says 4g doesn't use as much data as 3G, it's just quicker.

If thats the case, why are they offering tarrifs that go up to 8gb?

It is right that they are doing this, LTE is being sold that you "don't have to wait until you get home to download that app or movie" for the average consumer who doesn't fully understand what 500MB means they could easily go over by several gigabytes, which if it were, say, 50p per MB that would equal £512 per gigabyte.

I think £3 for an extra 50MB is a disgustingly high price compared to the price for 3G now (and 3G is overcapacity).

It can't happen, EE will cut your data off completely when your bundle runs out. No browsing, no email, no Facebook. Literally no Internet unless you pay for another bundle mid month.

Stupid plan, to go with extortionate costs.

The kind of people who shell out thousands on iPhones?

Thousands of what? £s? Is there a gold plated iPhone 5?

It's a stupid comparison, someone should remind EE that its like a high speed train that has the electricity cut off 5 minutes after it leaves the station because its used up its monthly quota and it can do another 5 minutes high speed commuting again next month.

I think the data cut off is good to control costs, however the plans data included is far too low, the data top up far too expensive !

It costs them nowhere near the cost they want us to pay for data top up - 2GB for £20 think a MSE mod posted  thats many many 1000% mark up on true cost - thEy arE having a laugh !! 4GEE ? Gee I'd rather not...

Blackberry plans are usually unlimited data as data is carried by Orange/o2 etc to that BB countries server and BB do the internet connection themselves - but EE has no Blackberry handsets

Hah I was soooo right about the data limit being ridiculously low for 4G. I just knew EE could not resist the temptation to rip off customers. Sadly as the iphone has proved there are lots pf people out there with more money than sense and dumb enough to fall for the hype.
As far as I am concerned 3G is more than adequate for me in the near to mid term future.

The woman in charge of tariffs last job was in charge of Orange prepay, which used to think 100MB was an adequate allowance.

No wonder the allowances are so poor.

She has said in an interview that unlimited data will attract the wrong sort of user "who will cane the network". And the majority of Orange customers never exceed 500MB, so 500MB will be adequate for the average EE LTE user.

Nice attitude from what is essentially supposed to be the high speed data network.

Thank you Pippa Dunn, CMO, EE.

That would be because there are no LTE Blackberry handsets in existence

EE need to offer unlimited 3G after the 4G runs out to stop this turning into a major PR disaster for them. Everyone would be relatively happy if this were to happen and EE wouldn't lose much (if any) money per contract.

I do wonder if T-Mobile will shelve their Full Monty plan next year as this may impact on people changing over to 4G.

EE are to launch the BB Playbook 4G LTE though, one of its main functions is email/texts etc bridge to a BB lol

I have a wifi version I'm typing now on, so customers like me can't go to EE if we wanted. Not that I will, I have unlimited data to use with my Playbook on Orange, unless I move to Europe again EE plans offer me nothing!
