MSE News: EE reveals 4G prices... which aren't cheap

So there you have it. Thanks to the regulator for allowing EE to get 4G at any price they can get away with until a competitor can get their oar in to undercut. Poor old iPhone users seem to have so many 'disadvantages' now too! It just isn't worth it. I wouldn't touch a contract with a barge pole anyway (just add up the total costs), but 4G should be attractive for tethering & possibly eliminating your home phone line completely?0

Recent T-Mobile Full Monty contract customers sold a 4G handset will be fuming, unlimited browsing is NOW capped internet. That was not a good move EE.SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe0

Everyone says 4g is super quick... wait until the networks become bogged down and EVERYONE is using it, it won't be that fast then!
People are paying for the hype.. just because my pages/videos etc will load quicker I won't suddenly feel the need to 'browse the internet more'.0 -
I have read elsewhere on the net that 4G networks are cheaper to run than 3G, so seems like pure profiteering.
Cost to run is only part of the cost, the hardware needs to be purchased, installed, tested and commisioned, as well as powered and maintained. Spectrum licences need to be bought (not quite in this case). Operating costs need to be covered as well as profit to shareholders and taxes.
It's not like they had a switch of 4G OFF/ON they just clicked, there has been work behind the scenes most people don't realise has happened and that all has to be paid for somehow.
Long term the 4G networks may be cheaper to run, but look at all mobile telephony products we have had, Analog, GSM, 3G all of which cost a lot to be put in place initially and only through more and more users did prices fall.0 -
That's iPhone 5 customers only.SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe0

Can also confirm that the will be NO FRIENDS AND FAMILY (STAFF FRIENDS) DISCOUNTS on the 4G price plans. This gives you permanent half price plans.
We were going to upgrade to 4G but will stick with 3G as not worth loosing this very good discountFor everthing else there's mastercard.
For clampers there's Barclaycard.0 -
So if you reach the data cap your phone essentially becomes a dumb phone? That's not cricket!0

Orange Retail staff are annoyed aswell, selling less viable EE plans with sales commission will now be brought down to what was T-Mobile's level from the 30th October.
EE retail staff will now sell T-Mob/Orange/EE plans for less commission than ever before.SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe0 -
Unfortunately not. This is taken from their press pack:
50MB for £3
The base package at £36/month for 500MB is a joke too. What is the point of a superfast internet connection if you can't actually use it for anything? Your whole allowance would be used up within less than an hour of watching streaming video.
They can't blame congestion for their price-gouging as this is a brand new network. Very disappointing tariffs.poppy100
