They can't blame congestion for their price-gouging as this is a brand new network. Very disappointing tariffs.

Its not its a internal MVNO run on T-Mobile & Orange network codes.
SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe ;)

4G is a new network using new masts and transmission technology. It doesn't matter how congested existing 3G networks are, this is a new network.

That means nothing, the same licences issued to run T-Mobile & Orange 2G have been part recycled for 4G.

EE will be allocated MNC and MCC codes seperate from the T-Mobile & Orange's own codes (and roam on both T-Mobile & Orange 2G & 3G) as is any MVNO issued such from thier wholesaler network/regulator.

Orange & T-Mobile brands will eventually be killed off, this is a transitional period. 4G could have been opened to current T-Mobile & Orange resellers but EE decided to set up its own MNVO to avoid this and corner the market first, why Ofcom allowed a monopoly from its own MVNO's partners after converting 2G to 4G is a unfair advantage to EE.

EE4G should have been open to Virgin Mobile resellers and the like, EE used the MVNO regulation to get round that, Ofcom let it.

You're confusing two separate issues. Yes, EE is a MVNO combining T-Mobile and Orange's existing networks. But their 4G service doesn't use the existing 2G or 3G networks, it's a new system set up from scratch with new equipment (which is why it is only available in 16 cities, whereas 2G/3G masts are everywhere.

The 4G system is new and has no congestion, as it has no users as yet. They can't blame congestion for their sky-high prices.

The infrastructure maybe NEW but its still a MVNO running off MVNO codes for now, thats why Orange T-Mobile customers cannot access it (with thier resellers). We may all get moved to EE overtime or have access to 4G services when the others are up and running, more likely EE will be the last brand standing out the EE portfolio of 3 brands.

BTW the EE MVNO does not own the NEW network, both partners & shareholders/wholesalers of EE MVNO do, thus they own the network & brand under different guises.....(tax avoidance anyone? ;))

  • I want an iPhone 5.

Looked at every network and deals etc, and with signal at work and home etc, AND taking into account the 4G for the future (as i'll be likely taking out a 2 year contract and want to keep options as open as I can), I am thinking of going with Orange. £36/month, 1GB Internet. 109.99 for the handset.

If you have recently taken out a new contract with a 4G compatable phone you can move to EE for no additional cost, but in my case my internet usage would drop to 500MB. I have no idea if this would be enough, I use nowhere near 500MB now? Because its a faster network will it use more data or will you use the same as a 3G network, but its just faster?

    Anyway the new handset prices are more money on EE. iphone 5 is 179.99 on the £36/month deal, so why wouldn't everybody in my situation wanting an iphone5;

    a) go with Orange or T-Mobile (and not any other network. I heard iphone 5 won't ever work on a 4G network with O2??)

    b) go with Orange or T-Mobile on the normal packages, and then bide their time, before moving to an EE tariff for free?

Comments, suggestions please! I think its a case of new iphone5, EE etc all new things all at the same time!

So total for the contract is £974.

    That £1043 overall

If it has to be the EE network consider a Sim only phone and Virgin Mobile Sim Only as VM sit on the eE network.

Phone £529 for a 16GB iPhone 5 unlocked form Apple, £10 a month for 250 Mins, 1GB data and unlimited texts and a 30 day contract.

Total over 24 months is £769, which is a £205 saving. It's a 30 day contract and an unlocked phone so you can always switch when 4G tarrifs come down and remember it's only some area's not the whole of the UK, where do you live, would you be on 3G most of the time anyway?

You'll just use the same amount of data (more or less) when in a 4G area but just faster, however as it's faster you may be tempted to surf more..

just wanted to confirm what a couple of people had mentioned above. recently took out a tmobile full monty plan, getting note 2 LTE. $g not expected by me for around 12 months but wanted to be ready. Gutted by the priceplans, and more importantly the lack of an unlimited option. makes having 4g totally redundant.

    500mb in 3 min 4g watchdog says!
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

another thing to bear in mind is coverage, whats the point of paying out all that money if the coverage is limited, and the network will just default you to 3G, for which you could be paying signifficantly less for signifficantly more.
