There's loads more information about it here:

and some basic FAQ's to get you started:

You'll also need to read this regarding National Insurance:

    I'm only registered with - http://www.grg.com/

link direct to Mystery Shopping - https://www.grgresearch.com/default.htm

it seems friendly and straight forward. 10pounds per assignment.

I've been offered 4 since I registered last week!

I'd be interested in registering with more sites though!

Hi just joined a mystery shopping company *** , what happens now?

I'm already self-employed with Kleenze so tax/nat ins already registered , I pay 2.10 a week Nat Ins and if you earn less than 4,000 ish ( in all jobs you are doing) then no tax to pay.

when you start as self-employed contact Inland Revenue within 3 months , then they know , I think they are supposed to send an info pack out but I've never got mine , so phoned them up other day and asked for another but I must be registered because I've been sent a self assessment form , and a Nat Ins bill every three months, but if you have another proper paid job anywhere then details of that will need to go on the form as well.

I got my first two assignment offers today from grassroots, but had problems with ringing through to accept them. The automated system kept asking me to enter the 11 digit assignment number over and over again, press 1 to confirm, then back to square one. Anyone else had this trouble? Also one of the offers said I must ring back before yesterday afternoon to accept. If it's going to be a load of hassle I can't see me bothering. Shame really, I think I'd be good at it.

Don't forget that these companies do not permit naming their clients on forums etc. You can get into serious trouble with them, so some of you might want to edit your posts!

    HTH

Just to re-affirm this post, MSE has been in "trouble" before for people posting about certain websites so just go canny on what you post about :)

As an allocator for a Mystery Shopping company I can tell you that it all sounds wonderful, but there are downsides as well. Hassle (and waste of time) is one of them, as often is being out of pocket. That said, everyone who is really interested must try it for themselves...

You can ring Retail Eyes on 0800 515832 but I think they only work office hours.

I got another assignment offer today and had the same problem with the phone line. I phoned them on another number and did it verbally - so watch out bank people, newleaf is coming to assess your service!
