Maximising income - Mystery Shopping? Surveys?

That's because I am a kind & caring person - lol
I certainly don't want to get into an argument with anybody and I didn't expect to post what I posted without anybody replying. I agree that you were right to warn people about the potential non payment for work completed. Actually, the company have emailed everyone involved (including you, of course) to try to keep them informed. Of course I realise that an amount of money that is insignificant to some is anything but insignificant to others.
My husband owns a small business so I know just how the whole business can be affected by just one bad payer. We have a customer who has owed us a huge amount of money for over 2 years, but that's a whole other story. It would be very sad to see the directors of any mystery shopping company posting on here about their liquidation/personal bankruptcy.
I wanted to post in reply to your original post to give another perspective and to let people know that the company involved are not a fly by night company, merrily ripping off their mystery shoppers. They are working hard to sort out the dreadful situation that they have found themsleves in.0 -

I know that and I agree - I hope they get paid as well then the many many shoppers left out of pocket will too.
I did not at any point say they were fly by night but as I picked up their details from this thread it is important that others who may have done the same are aware they may not get paid - were we just supposed to ignore this in the hope it all goes away because its a "nice" company? I will and have already supported them in what ever way I can until they pay what they owe to me - this is business not fun0 -
I'm sorry if my reply implied that you had said they were a fly by night company. Of course you didn't say that and I didn't mean to imply that you did.
I have been mystery shopping for many years & have come into contact with many mystery shopping companies, so I speak with some experience. In my time I have encountered a company who routinely took 5 months to pay, a company that simply didn't pay at all, ever, and a small company who despite their best efforts folded because of non payment by their major client.
In my opinion (feel free to disagree with me if you want, lol) the company involved in this discussion are doing their very best, they are 'nice' people & they will pay as soon as they can. I'm glad you are giving them your support, because they certainly have mine.0 -
Would somebody be able to PM the companies name that is experiencing problems? Thanks0

I am very lucky, that there are very few M/S in my area, but I have found over the last 18 months that M/S ing is not enough to keep me going, so I have stayed with the same companies but taken on Auditing and Merchandising, which is more regular work and a better fee. I am now a dab hand at assembling FSDU's !!
One thing you also have to bear in mind when I say I do it full time, I am a single Mum with 2 children, I have my upper limit which I can't go over or I will start to lose my Tax Credits, so although I may do the work on a full time basis, I am certainly not bringing in £1000 per month !!!
would you be able to PM me the companies you do auditing and mechandising for? as i say i'm a student and so looking for a bit of a stop-gap whilst i finish my studies, want to try and get some more regular work instead of scouring the internet everyday to see if anymore jobs have gone on.
Thanks0 -

Agreed - they will get my support - until they dont pay me - then they lose it- I had my agreement with them not their supplier and in my mind nice people pay their debts. I am sorry if I sound harsh about this but like you I have had some considerable experience in business and also therefore the bad payers (who are often very nice people:rolleyes: ) Good on them for trying though and I hope your loyalty Chas is spot on - personally I will take a neutral stance as at this moment they owe me money not their supplier but them and as you rightly pointed out its not a lot of money after all therefore it will be easy for them to pay us:rolleyes:0 -

yeah right, of course it will, cos LOTS of small amounts don't add up to a LARGE amount do they?
let's just agree to differ on this one, shall we?0 -

Some companies will deduct tax from your fees, other will pay the fees gross which case you have to do a tax return.
Please note that you have to register with several companies in order to get a decent amount of work, and that will largely depend on where you live.Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0 -

Chas you can wait patiently for the nice people to pay up............as in effect we all must because we have no choice...............on the other hand I will make sure I let my MSE friends know that this is a company who are defaulting. When they pay (hopefully not if) I will ....like you.....sing their praises and thats a promise:o0 -
