Maximising income - Mystery Shopping? Surveys?

hi jo,
i would think it would affect your benefits as its classed as an income
you would be self employed for a lot of companies ,some are on a PAYE basis though0 -
I have a friend who is in receipt of benefits and for the last year or more they have been doing mystery shopping. They would have made about £100 from it in the last year. Should they be doing it because I wouldn't like them to get into bother because they don't know they are doing anything wrong or are they?
They haven't given their national insurance number, does this make any difference?0 -
what company are they registered with ?! they should be registered as self employed and be paying tax / NI for a lot of companies !!
You can be fined if you dont register within 3 months of starting SE work !!!!0 -
New to this thread, but have been doing NOP MS for about 5 years.
In a bid to make a dent in my debt, I have signed up to a couple of others and have my first 4 assignments for Grassroots next week.
Can anyone just let me know if they are generally ok to work for, or should I expect hassles! Just so that I know what to expect, although nothing fazes me really, just want to be prepared!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. Retail Eyes, ABA Research and they have just signed up with GAPbuster this week and have 4 jobs for this weekend. They have to spend a minimum of £5 for each of the 4 jobs this weekend and they get £5 for doing each of the 4 jobs.
If they register as self employed what way will this affect their benefits and if they came of benefits could they get a normal job again or would they have to be self-employed?0 -

well i know that GAP and RE both work on a self employed basis !
basically ANY amount of money made should be declared ! she is breaking the law basically and could recieve hefty fine
she should have been paying tax for the past year then from what you have said !0 -
here you go
from page 1 of this thread ........
TAX
If you wish to do Mystery Shopping, even just one job, you need to register with the Inland Revenue within 3 month or you could face a fine of £100.
Forms and Guidelines you will need –
Self Employed people with small earnings Guidance - http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/forms/cf10.pdf
To register as Self Employed you will need to either ring the IR (Inland Revenue) ON 08459 15 45 15 or download and send back the form CWF1 (http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/forms/cwf1.pdf )
You may also be required to pay National Insurance at the rate of £2.10 a week, but only if you earn more than £4345 after expenses in any one year THROUGH Self Employment. This means earning more than £4345 in addition to you other employment. If you think you will earn less than £4345 in the financial year, then you can apply for a “Certificate of Small Earnings Exception” which means you will not have to pay NI (National Insurance) Contributions. The Exception application can be found at the end of this document CF10 - http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/forms/cf10.pdf
