I think you will have 2 hopes of having a valid default removed by Speed Credit. That is Bob Hope and No Hope. They do not negotiate, they just bully, I doubt very much they would ever consider removing a default for you and nor have I heard of this ever happening.

wMy son borrowed from TF, £400. He paid £200 but got into difficulty & now his debt is £1400 due to interest & a £350 fee for passing the debt to Northern Debt recovery, who, funnily enough are in the same 'group' (along with Speed credit - and at the same address!). He got abusive, threatening texts, emails etc. Anyway, I have offered to pay his original loan plus the interest agreed had he paid on time. I went to the NDR website to pay that amount only but their pay page is NOT secure. I will not enter my card details on an unsecure pay page, & read on another forum that someone did pay their friends debt for them on the NDR website pay page, & NDR tookmoney from their bank account without authorisation. We will write to NDR with a cheque which they will have to accept as I am not willing to pay any other way that involves giving them my card number & security number. They can take my son to Court for the rest & explain to a Judge their extortionate fees, interest & bullyboy tactics!

Sounds quite typical and rest assured they will not take your son to court.

I feel sick to my stomach right now!

They have taken £136 out of my account today! The bank said I have to wait till tomorrow to make a dispute about it. I have complained to the OFT and FOS yesterday. I am so angry. What can I do to get this money back??

Not sure if you have tried this- you can withdraw your continuous payment authority (I think that is the correct name). There are templates on the National Debtline website. Effectively this means that they cannot take any more payments. I know that doesn't help right now, but hopefully it would stop it happening again in the future. Any luck getting the money back?

Sorry, just seen this. Hope you've been refunded by now.

Your bank is talking garbage as they usually do - unauthorised payments are to be refunded immediately, not "tomorrow" !

The bank usually wait until it shows up as being actually debited not just ringfenced for payment. Can be same day but often is the next.
Mama read so much about the dangers of drinking alcohol and eating chocolate that she immediately gave up reading.

That's a fair point, but I'm a little dubious about why they'd ask her to call back the next day when the money wouldn't necessarily have been debited by then.

Earmarked payments sometimes take days to actually be debited.

They had said to ring a certain number that would be open as they were now closed. With work etc. I haven't been able to phone as of yet, apparently I have 120 days to do this so I am off work tomorrow.

Had an email off somebody named 'Michael Lapides' stating that toothfairy have acknowledged my complaint and that they have 8 weeks to come to a written agreement. I have yet to get a reply back as they are very rubbish at doing so.

I cannot believe they get away with this criminal behaviour!

Write back and advise that 8 weeks is the MAXIMUM time to reply not the MINIMUM.
