BTW I have just calculated the charges i have received from June 2004 - present = £1175.69. I am just wondering if it's worth waiting up to 6 weeks, admitidely it could boost my figures up by a couple of hundred pounds or do i just ask for the figure i have, any suggestions please would be gratefully appreciated.

I would wait until I got all statements as I'd want every penny back but its up to you in the end :o

 Hi there, I could really use some help!

I wrote to Capital One to reclaim charges of £204 (not much I know, but better in my pocket, than in theirs!). I received a letter today stating that they had already reduced their fees to £12, and I would have the difference between this £12 and the original fee amounts of £18 & £20. This totalled £86, and they said that they have already refunded this to my card.

This is where I don't know what to do next! I will still be claiming the full amount of £204, but if that £86 is already refunded, what does my next letter say? Should it be "Thanks but no thanks, I want £204", or should it be "Thanks for that, but I still want the outstanding £118."

I would be very grateful for your help!

    Cheers!

P.S. Still not heard from NatWest, second letter will be sent tomorrow!

Just put in your letter that you will accept the £86 as part payment of your claim but you intend to proceed with your claim for the full amount - then just carry on as normal :D

    Amount Claimed - £268.00
Amount Offered - £318.49 (including interest and court fee) :j

Sent all letters, didn't get anywhere with them so started court process. They acknowledged then a few days later I got a letter in the post saying they don't agree with fees...do not accept liability for the claim...don't want to go to court...etc. and that as a gesture of goodwill ( ) they had credited my account.

Not having as much luck with my closed account though. Its taken 3 letters to get some statements out of them and they still haven't sent them all! Sending one last letter today saying they've got 7 days to get the rest to me!

I'm sending my 2nd letter, asking for the charges, to C1 today. Does the 14 days run from the day I send it (today) or from the day they received it (tomorrow)?

I would count from tomorrow ;)
  • C one have written to me offering me £326.00 instead of the £958 I asked for. Theyve reduced the £20 down to £12 and give me the difference. Do I accept or reject?

    Your thoughts please

    Reject Reject Reject!

They tried this with me but if you carry on you will get the full amount. Just tell them you accept that offer as part payment but intend to claim the full amount ;)
  • i got a capital one credit card last summer with a £200 limit on it. i overspent on this limit by less than £30. since august i have repaid £150 on it, but due to charges the balance now stands at £327!

the call centre operators (from india?) phone me all hours of the day and night demanding instant payment - this is causing me such distress! most folk who have to use capital one have adverse credit (i do) so these charges have been so difficult to pay on my low income.

i have claimed back charges from Lloyds TSB but it never occured to me to try this with Capital One. Have today sent first request for settlement ... thanks for the advice everyone
    had enough of :wall:

gonna sort my life out :j

    Cheers for that!

Can I be really cheeky and ask where you got a rejection letter from? - I've looked all over but to no avail. I know what I want to write but not sure how!

    Thanks
