New Lloyds TSB Visa Debit Cards being issued

I'm just going through a pile of old paperwork chucking out what I no longer need and came across two leaflets from LTSB
Both are entitled "Current Accounts Getting the most out of your Visa debit card."
One has a picture of the familiar 2012 debit card the other has a picture of a Black Horse on a background that is made up of a white strip across the top and bottom, with a black horse across the middle in a gallop.
The inside colours are light blue and green.
Seems Lloyds TSB are replacing the cards, I only have the old version of the card though. This leaflet was dated October 2012 and the leaflet code is DEB/CLSI/PIN/UG 1012 was correct as of October 2012.
The old Olympic one has the code DEB/CLSI/PIN/UG 0412 and was correct as of April 2012
Will they replace the existing 2012 cards if you ring up for a replacement?

Its been said in another thread that if you report the card non-functional, they'll send a replacement, which will be the new style.
Or you could wait until next year when they'll be doing contactless versions.0 -
There's a thread floating on here about this I phoned up Thursday as said my chip is scratched and don't work in chip & pin and they're replacing it but apparently these cards don't come without contactless until next year.0

You've beat me to it.0 -
You can request a contactless one already if you go into branch.
I've got one myself (was an easy way to differentiate between two of their debit cards)0 -

At some point soon they'll have to start saying just Lloyds instead of Lloyds TSB. Then we may all have to have a new one. Or three.
Then if you get sold you'll have to have new TSB cards."It will take, five, 10, 15 years to get back to where we need to be. But it's no longer the individual banks that are in the wrong, it's the banking industry as a whole." - Steven Cooper, head of personal and business banking at Barclays, talking to Martin Lewis0 -
If they drop the TSB branding, I can imagine this will be a logistical nightmare replacing all the cards in one go.
I expect it will be phased.
Just had a thought, what would happen to the cheque books too?0 -
Why do MSE users get so worked up about how a dam Bank card looks.
Its only a plastic card with some pictures on it. It lets you pay for stuff and get money.
Am i missing something???0 -

Admittedly I really ain't bothered about what my cards look like as I am the only one who looks at them but as I am into big black horses its only right I try and get the Lloyds new card.0 -
I am wondering the same, thought i must have missed something!
Does it actually matter which one you own or is it purely vanity? And this is not meant sarcastically I genuinely wonder if there is reason behind this.
Until tonight when I have popped over to this forum to have a nosey, I never even knew there were so many differences with debit cards.:silenced:0
