ok I've used my mooncup for the first time this past week and was mostly very pleased with it. Dead easy to use no hassle and no mess. The only disapointment was on my heaviest day I was still emptying it every hour on the hour as it was full and leaked, so I had to wear pads as a back up. No difference to using tampons then had hoped to have it lasting a bit longer but at least I'm not going through a whole box in one day! couldn't get a seal on that day at all cos was too heavy a flow, but maybe practise makes perfect. Certainly made me think about pelvic floor exercises for the first time in many a year!0

I have a mooncup which I find very comfortable. Can't feel it in place once its in, which I often did with tampons. The hardest thing is getting it out as I find getting a good enough grip quite hard.
I've also tried sea sponges which are dead easy to insert and get out. Due to the short time that they can be left in aren't suitable for overnight use.
I've got some reusable pads (wemoon, popolini and ella's house) which I use as backup to the sea sponges or at the end of my period.0 -
I was interested to hear Janey Lee Grace mention them in her interview with jonny walker last monday whilst promoting her new book, apparently the phone lines were jammed afterwards - presumably becaucse she couldn't go into too much detail whilst on air! Just wish I could get a better grip on my heaviest day but i'm sure the exercises will pay off one way or another. Never heard of using sea sponges - whole new world!0

I've never used either, but apparently you can happily and tidily have sex with them in because they don't get in the way. I'm told that 'professional' ladies quite often use them so as not to miss out on business opportunities during their period.A penny saved is a penny gained0 -
For information on sea sponge tampons see http://www.seapearls.co.uk They cost £7.99 for two and supposedly last about 6 months (or 3 months each).
For those who don't like the idea of a mooncup or washable pads then there are always organic tampons and towels made my natracare and available in Boots. More environmentally friendly but unfortunately more expensive than normal ones. The mooncup is definitely your best money saving option.0
