Gingham - my daughter is using the pads, (the mooncup is for me).

IMine was delivered and two days later period arrives as if on cue, I am getting on fine with mine...haven't found it too fiddly, and my periods are heavy ie always used super and super plus tampons. Very pleased :D

Sorry, I forgot. Yes, 6 might not be enough but you're better getting too few and adding to them than getting too many and them not being suitable. I imagine she'll want more for next month though! :j

Your 8 year old has periods black-saturn? . I obviously need to get over my squeamishness in the next few years.

...and knowing what I know now I'd prefer she didn't use tampons even when she's older. I'm trying to persuade my teenager to try a mooncup, but she's going to need a bit more exposure to the idea first, I think. :D

umm, I know you're their mum, but do you not think its partially their choice? If my mum had said 'you have to do this' I would have done everything except what she said.
At 15, I was still going 'eeeuw' about bleeding in the first place, never mind going against what my friends were doing and having a mooncup.
If she's got her head screwed ont he right way (and I assume she has) then she'll realise the advantages of mooncup vs tampons, but I would say don't push it. If you are really serious about wanting her to use mooncup and she's not responding to the idea, maybe make her buy her own tampons and that way she'll see the financial benefit, if nothing else.

Thanks Emmy. I'm a bit nervous, but after reading this thread will be brave! It sounds much more natural than putting cotton wool up your bits :o

Fortunately, more and more people we know are buying them and discussing their use. The more it's discussed the more normal it becomes.
Yes, I was at a conference the other day and met someone from the Women's Environmental Network. I immediately said "Oh, mooncups and stuff like that!" and my colleague looked at me as if I was barking! Me and the WEN lady quickly explained ... :rotfl:
