  • There are different types of washable towel. The peeweez ones are soft flannelette with layers of padding inside. They are less bulky than the old type of disposable towel. (ie the ones without the gel in.) They are a nice shape and I haven't had any problems with leaking.

They button underneath to stay on and when you're done with it, it folds in on itself and forms a little 'purse' so it's very discreet.

I don't know about very heavy flow, but if I'm worried that I'm going to be away from a loo for a long time, I just add a little tissue just incase. But I did that with disposable ones too. I use them at night with no problems.

My husband calls them my 'princess pads' because I said they were so soft they made me feel like a princess. :o:D

I stick them in the washing with the bedding and dry them on the radiator in the bedroom. I'm pretty open about these things but I don't want them on the washing line!
May all your dots fall silently to the ground.

    just a question - wouldn't it smell?

    does it ever spill?

it looks a bit scary to me... I am devout tamponist, I can't stand sanitary towels, they always fold over and pull my pubes out!!

If you're talking about the mooncup, then No and No in my experience.
The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.

Gingham, do you boil wash them?
I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.

Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.

VAT on tampons etc was reduced to 5% in 2001, which is the lowest it can legally go.

For anyone a bit leery of trying a mooncup, give it a go - you get a 3-month trial to see if you like it, and if you don't like it then you get your money back. You have absolutely nothing to lose by trying it. As an added benefit, a lot of women (myself included) find that menstrual cramps are reduced.

Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...
