  • Hiya,

I bumped the thread up the other day as I think mooncup's are great and wanted to add my tuppenceworth in :) I kept the stem for about 2 months, then realised I never used it (When I did it seemed messier and more of a vacuum!). I then cut it off and now find it much better to pinch the bottom of the thing and slightly tilt it one way, from the bottom, so it sort of comes out at an angle! Not missing the stem at all!

  • Suppose it depends on individuals - I could never, ever, ever, ever go back to pads now after my mooncup :D

Never EVER try to remove the Mooncup one-handed ... you'll end up decorating the wall as I did. Eat your heart out, Kandinsky ...

The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.

I bought a mooncup a few months ago after reading about it on here. My periods are actually very light because I use the Mirena coil, so I find I can leave it in all day and just remove it when I am at home.

I don't feel it all, and when removing it I have noticed that if I bear down it comes out very easily, albeit with some tugging from my fingers. Good thing I have fairly long nails as it enables me to get a good grip on the stem, which i unfortunatley cut a little too short when I first tried it

Must admit I wouldn't look forward to removing it in a public loo. Definitely would need a few wet wipes with me

I can't imagine how you get it out with TWO hands !

  • I don't imagine she meant both whole hands...
May all your dots fall silently to the ground.
  • Hi everyone,
seems the mooncup debate will go on and on!! Thanks for the advice, will try without the stem, but as above, not sure how to go about the retrieval process two-handed! I'm going to definately carry on trying with the mooncup as all the good reasons are too good to revert to pads and tampons etc.

the worst thing is, when you have a butterfingers moment and drop it down the loo as you remove it. feels 10 time worse if its in a public one too

i dropped mine recently in my loo at home, and i had a bit of an icky thought at having to retrieve it, but was relieved that i had actually decided to remove it, before having a wee, only to realise 2hrs later that dh had used the loo before me, and he never bothers to flush his wee (says hes saving on the water bill)
