Mothercare do something called a steribox for £1.25 I think it was, for doing babies dummies. Not sure whether it would be big enough for a mooncup though, might be worth checking out.......

I'd just like to bump this thread again and say how much I recommend the mooncup! Bought one after reading the thread a few months ago, and when it arrived, actually couldn't wait for my period! From the word go, never had a problem inserting it, can't feel it (might cut the stem off now though as never use it) and it doesn't even seem that yukky.

Just got to remember to carry wet wipes or something when I'm going out as the whole "emptying it in a public loo cubicle" still isn't great.

OH thinks it's yukky and refuses to look at it though - men! :)
  • Hi guys
Have not been able to find the thread to add about the mooncup/feminine hygeine discussion which has been going on for some time. Just wanted to ask those in the know, does it make it easier to take out the mooncup if you cut the stalk off all together? I trimmed mine down so am not able to use it to pull the thing down but thought it might be easier to try without. Not doing too well in my second month of use because of this. :xmastree:
  • Hi guys
I've been trying to catch up with this thread all afternoon!! After my second month of trying the mooncup I abandoned it due to difficulty getting the thing out! I've cut the stem down but it's too short to grasp now, is it better to cut it off altogether so that I can pull the bottam of the mooncup? I find that it is too high up and you just cannot get to it without putting a finger up to hook around and remove it which then means the contents seem to be outside of it rather than inside!!!

Sorry this sounds so horrible to anyone of a squeamish nature but I would like some considered advice as I do not want to give up on it completely!!!

Why did you cut the stem down? Surely it's there for a reason.

Try 'bearing down' while you're removing it then pinch the bottom of the actual cup so that it's oval rather than round, then angle it so that only part of the rim comes out first followed by the rest of the rim.
Just run, run and keep on running!

  • LOL Stick with it! If you still can't get it to work for you, you could always try the washable pads.
