  • PUL is the waterproof layer in the pad. I don't think it's marketed as PUL in this country though.

Perhaps a layer of that rain jacket stuff would work? It's inside the cotton outer cover so you wouldn't notice it.

    Hope that helps.

i've read about PUL when reading about washable nappies i think. is it the breathable plastic type stuff used in the outer layer, so if you used it on the bottom of a pad it would stop leakage through the bottom of the pad?

Does anyone find that it interferes with having a wee? I feel I need to go quite a lot and when I do the flow feels hampered. With the smaller size though it seems to be okay.

    Yes, i found that too.

Petal, I have had 1 or 2 problems with it since getting it, but i emailed them at: advice@mooncup.co.uk, and they were incredibly helpful.

I think it would be worth your while getting some advice before going ahead or it could be really disappointiong for you :) But if it doesn't work for you, they offer a money back option if things dont work out.

    PUL - poly urethane laminate

pennine outdoor sell something similar called naprap

easier to find in the USA though, espec if you want it patterned or in colours

if you are not bothered about it being breathable though, a shower curtain works just as well, and is alot cheaper (Asda Smartprice 98p)

Hey, we're spreading the word! A friend who uses the mooncup told her friend about my peeweez pads and now she's ordered some too! If we keep it up we could slowly but surely do away with disposable ones! No more bobbing tampax at grotty beaches! (Although it's several years since I saw a dirty beach.)

No they are not bobbing around as they added more stuff at the treatment plant and buried the rest at a land fill!!!!!!!!!
Short of funds at the mo but I am thinking of the mooncup for really heavy days or when camping. I do find the peeweez pads comfy though and easy to look after.
The best bargains are priceless!!!!!!!!!! :T :T :T

    Hello all,

Inspired by this and another forum (where they are backpackers/travellers so they love stuff like this) I have decided to switch to these. I have bought Lunapads, which are more expensive than the Peeweez but work slightly differently with liners etc - you could prob make liners yourself but if you are me it is best left to the experts! Also maybe it's cos I'm young but I do find the Lunapads very cool and pretty and these things are important..silly me I know! Anyway will still be saving money...and the environment!

My friend stayed over last night and asked to borrow a pad and I didn't have any disposables and the reusables aren't exactly something to share are they!?! So I had nothing for her! I didn't explain why though (just made out I'd run out), I find it hard to admit to for some reason...though I will build up the courage as I care about my friends and want to let them know about an alternative that I consider to be better. I already tried converting my mum and she wasn't having any of it!

But you helped convert me when initially my reaction was "No way!" so thank you :)
