  • To go back to the washable hankies thing. I found a crumpled but clean looking man's hankie on the ground in Llandudno on Friday. I picked it up and said it could go in a 60 wash and I could use it. My husband couldn't believe it. How tightwaddy I've become when only a few months ago I would have been disgusted at the idea!

I know full well the idea would horrify lots of people as I would have been one of them but I hated the idea of a lovely hankie going to waste when I'm looking for some anyway!

Big change from the girl who had a germ phobia as a teenager!

Hi girlies :D Welll....I started using my mooncup yesterday. I can't believe how easy it is and how comfortable! I was bit concerned about it (I have a prolapse after the birth of my son) but it's great :D I wish I'd know about these before.

    Absolutely no probs so far......

I'm REALLY happy for you Petal, especially after your prolapse worries :)

I used mine for my 3rd period last week and it was the best month yet. I STILL leaked on my heaviest day, but only a trickle. The rest of the time i was 100% leak-free:j and i've mastered the art of positioning it perfect 1st time every time!!!

Mooncup advised me to try and keep it low as the muscles are firmer there, and it worked really well. I think it only leaked a little when it got sucked up too high on my heaviest day :o I'll spare the details!

I love it, and my Peeweez pads too. No waste in the bin, and more pennies in my purse :T

Nice one Sabbykins, glad to hear that things have improved. We're all getting there. :D

Sabbykins...I'm glad you mentioned about it getting "sucked up" lol....that happened this morning and I had a bit of a fight :o to remove it and was muttering away when my ever helpful OH suggested I push! It does tend to sit quite high....but then that might be something to do with the prolapse I guess.

Very happy so far....the only downside so far has been that it can be v messy.

Well I'm pleased to report that I'm getting on well too. It's taken me 6 months to get it right but it's now great. I only leaked once and that was during the night after 8 hours when I was pretty heavy so I'm really pleased that it's now working okay. I go away on holiday next month and it looks like I'll be on while away but this now doesn't bother me as much. I can go out all day and not have to think about taking tampons with me etc.. :D

Petal, I found it messy at first too but on my last period I hardly got anything on my fingers at all and with time you will get quicker too.
  • Okay, a word of warning to washable towel users! When in a crowded park with toddlers, try not to leave your handbag for little fingers to pull out said pads!

Obviously they were clean or they wouln't have been in there but all the same... Thank goodness I was with a friend that I'd already told about them. Thing is, they just look like a little purse when they're folded up so I needed have been embarassed, but it's not quite the same as if it had've been a tampon. At least everyone else around would think that was a normal thing to have in your handbag. But not everyone gets the washable thing. :o

:rotfl: do you put them in with your other washing? my mum thinks i'm revolting because i put a wet nappy in with my main wash yesterday :o

  • Yes. Bedding, bath towels, sanny towels, handerchiefs and nappies all in together at 60. My mum thinks it's yuck too. But the amount of body fluids that end up on the sheets and towels anyway, what's the difference!

I don't put them in with tea towels or hand towels. Seems fine to us.

Me too :D I always use to wash the nappies separatly. I use to have a twin tub (sigh) when my three were little. It was cheap. Baby clothes first load, then towels, then nappies. Fresh water , whites, normal clothes, then DH work clothes. I've been using cloth sanitary pads for a while now, once scrubbed & rinsed I put them in with the towels. I have moved upscale now, I've got an automatic. :j
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)
