I've just finished my 4th period with the mooncup. I loved it straight away but have been having a few problems with leaking. Mooncup.co.uk though are really helpful. They're letting me try out the other size (B) so I can see if the other size is better and said there is no rush in deciding.

Does anyone find that it interferes with having a wee? I feel I need to go quite a lot and when I do the flow feels hampered. With the smaller size though it seems to be okay.

Also, how far have you all cut the stem? I have cut mine to just above the first ridged bit but could do with cutting off more. Now that I'm positiong it as low as possible, I don't need the stem to pull it out but am a bit scared.

For those with problems getting it out, I get hold of the base and then insert a finger down the side to release the suction. I then pull out whilst continuing to use my finger to release the suction which also kind of decreases the circumferance.

I haven't bought tampons now for 4 months which has made me happy. My cup runneth over :D

    Hi Daisy :)

I'm on month 2 at the moment, and i'm finding it great.

I dont find it interferes with 'wees' or No 2's :o, BUT i am leaking at night, every night, (not loads but enough to annoy me, and enough that i need a pad).
And as for the stem, i have cut it off completely because it was nipping a bit and was just too uncomfortable. I had to walk like i had ants in my pants :o
Something else i noticed was that when i insert mine, it kind of gets sucked up really far , so i really have to bear down to get it to come down far enough to get a hold of. I use cup B already as i'm over 30 and have had kids, so i dont think i could really try anything else (maybe a sink plunger :confused:lol)

Anyway, the sucking up problem i have doesn't interfere with its protection during the day- infact i'm totally dry., its just alarming especially when the leaflet says its supposed to sit low down. I might have to ring them and have a chat, because mine has NEVER sat low down.

i do still prefer it to tampons despite a few teething problems, and i dont think i EVER want to use them again.

Mine is also not low down. I haven't cut any of the 'stalk' off either. It's perfectly comfortable higher up. All down to individual anatomical differences?

Thanks for your detailed post Sabbykins. I know what you mean about it getting sucked up. Mine was leaking occasionally though so they advised me to try and postition it as low as poss. I manage this by letting it pop open when it's only half way in and then just push up a bit. Maybe you could try it just at night-time to see if it helps or is it the case that your cup gets full overnight?

I too much prefer it to tampons despite the slight problems but I'm confident that they'll sort themselves out eventually. I actually kind of look forward to my periods now so I can test out my mooncup!

Thank you to everyone who's posted on this thread. It's been really helpfull to read how other people are doing with theirs.

    Hi again Daisy, :)
No, its not that my cup has been full overnight (although sometimes it has), because it has even hapened when its been half empty.
I will try what you said about positioning it low, thanks for that.

The only thing about positioning it low is that i have tried it like that at the beginning, and (dont know if its just me) but it was prone to almost slipping out altogether  especially if i coughed etc.....

I think i'm happier during the day to have it high as i know its not going anywhere but i will try it low at night.

I was wondering if the leaking at night could be because i am horizontal and the flow is flowing back over the rim and possibly breaking the suction?, i dont know. Anyway i will try what you said and report back :)

    Thanks again! :D

:D nice to hear that its not just me.

Well i leaked again last night even though i tried it lower down :( I think i must be 'weird' down there.
I have figured out that it leaks when i lie on my back but no other position. A clue to why maybe? I haven't sussed it yet though...... i think i need to ring Mooncup and ask for advice.
I had to have LOTS of internal stictches after my 1st child, and my hubby is wondering if maybe its left a crease or a ridge thats causing the problem (i've got him on the case too, lol)

This thread is great, its becoming a log for people using the Mooncup :D
Thanks to all the contributors, its been invaluable to me :T

    Hi Sabbykins

Not sure whether you saw my reply of 26 July with the link to the other forum. I'm no expert, but would have thought it pretty likely that your tilted uterus is causing the problem as this seems to be a common complaint when you try searching on google.

Did you try putting it really high to see if that worked overnight?

I've totally cut the stem off mine and put it as high as I could get it!! No problems getting it back out, just bear down a bit until you can pinch the bottom of the cup. Having a tilted uterus, I have tried putting it low, rotating it, not rotating it, etc but putting it high was the only thing that had any success at all.

During the day I didn't find the same problems with leaking, so didn't need to put it so high. Must be the angle when lying down or something
