as far as i know the diva cup is the american version of the mooncup, same design and material, or you can get The Keeper, which is a latex version, rather than silicone0

Here's the link to the Peeweez site where I got my lovely, washable sanitary towels. They're made from recycled flannelette and are wonderful. I can't believe I ever spent money on useless, uncomfortable disposable ones.
Not only am I saving lots of money and doing the environment a great favour, I'm actually comfortable when that time of the month comes round. And I just stick them in the washing machine with the nappies (or towels/bedding when he's potty trained.) No hassle.
Whose bright idea was it to get women to think that they had to pay for disposable protection AND get charged VAT on it?! It'd be different if we didn't have washing machines and good detergents but I can't believe I never considered an alternative until recently.May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -

Just coming to the end of the third month with mine.
1st month I though "oh, tricky, messy and bit of a faff, can't get it quite right, will probably send it back"
2nd month things were a little easier, not so messy, a bit quicker to put in and take out still a bit of a faff, thought I may give it another try.
3rd month things are much easier, still not as 'easy' as tampons but once you get into a routine or removing, washing and replacing...it's SO nice on lighter days to go all day without having to keep nipping to the loo.
I'm happy to stick with it now but I 'have' just gone back on the pill so my periods are a little lighter than they were on the first month.Just run, run and keep on running!0 -
Well this is my first month using the Mooncup and its been a bit up & down (pardon the pun
)
I have found it fiddly and a bit frustrating, BUT when its in properly it works like a dream!
Getting it positioned right is going to take some practise i think, but i'm going to persist because its great not having handfuls of tampons in my handbag & pockets everytime i visit the loo.
I would give more details of how i got on, but i know it might be a little distasteful for some
The money i'm going to save will be a wonderful bonus, as well as the environmental benefits :j

not strictly to do with reusable sanitary stuff but i mentioned 'ladycare' magnets a while back, £15 in the avon catalogue. i'm in a group for women with PCOS and we've been discussing heavy bleeding recently. one lady said she was sceptical but thought the magnet was worth a try and not only has it cut down the amount of painkillers she uses it's also cut down on the amount of bleeding, so she saves on painkillers and sanitary stuff
i think i'll give it a go. i was going to get a mirena put in after i've had the baby but knowing my luck i'll be one of those women who bleeds heavily for 9 months, so the magnets sound like a good idea :-)

I've been reading this thread with interest as I bought a mooncup at Glastonbury (they were selling them at a reduced price of £16.99 - bargain!), but haven't had the chance to try it out yet.
Quite looking forward to it now!Proud to be a moneysaver! :cool:0 -

Can i ask a question about these reusable pads, where do you dry them? It says to avoid radiators, so do you put them on the washing line?Wins to date since Aug 2008: Book 'Life with my sister Madonna' (My 1st win!) | Garnier Eye Roll On | (Sept) Wall e Robot| (Oct) £110 worth Miller Harris Perfume!|
