Hi
I have only just realised about this last night after searching their website! Very upset and I can't believe this has happened to us all! I have not heard anything from the shop! Does anyone have the contact of Preston manager? I paid for my dress in full but not holding my hopes of its safe return!!! Has anyone else managed to get their dresses from Preston?
Thanks0 -
Hi LA Love,
I too paid in full to the Preston Store I got one of the generic letters from the store and was also called from Begbies Traynor.
My wedding is not until March 2013 and as such my dress was not in the store so despite paying in full I am not one of the girls whose orders are being completed.
My wedding dress had been ordered as I checked direct with the designer Mark Lesley but I will have to pay out money again and in the meantime try and get back as much as I can through credit card/debit card company and insurance.
As for the the bridesmaid dress they hadnt even ordered! But I have spoken to Venus where it is coming from and they have been brilliant and the dress is being ordered now but payment needs to be done again and I just need to try and recover as much as I can.
If you have had no contact at all try and ring Begbies Traynor Livepool (contact details on the internet and somewhere within this thread), and also get in touch with your dress designer directly to see if your dress had even been ordered.
There are some other local bridal stores who are being really helpful also you could try and some of them.
If you contact the store on their email all you get is unhelpful generic responses.0 -
For any Essence brides out there, if you havent already definitely call Essence direct and inform them that you are one of the brides in this sitaution. It has just come to my attention through speaking with another bridal shop (who has been extremely helpful in getting information on my particular order) that BGG have not given them any contact information for any of the orders they have listed for Essence dresses. Whilst we think that all other suppliers are being really helpful with brides, Essence (although still not being fantastic) still have not yet spoken to all of hte brides as they dont have any contact info.
I suggest any Essence brides call them direct on 0800 961140, you can only get them after 2pm because of the time difference.
I cant say this for every Essence bride, but i have found out that not 1 penny of my £720 they have got! Apparantly, when orders are placed no money is exchanged until dress is finished and ready for delivery!
Another bit of information on Essence too is that there has been a meeting TODAY apparantly where the powers that be at Essence are deciding wether or not to give us all discount on our dresses. Obviously that doesnt matter if we cant get our money back, but if we are adamant that this dress is for us and we will do anything to get it, then hopefully a good bit of discount will help!
Just thought i would share a bit of the info i have found out today.....oh and the fact that BGG ordered me a UK SIZE 18 dress!!!!! I was a 14 when i got measured and since lost a bit of weight heading towards a 12 so why they thought i would need an 18 i have no idea!!!!!0 -
I would suggest that any bride who is still waiting for news on their dress to call the designer direct.
I know that there are many suppliers with dresses waiting on their rails but they have no contact details, all they have is a name and wedding date.
BGG dealt with several stockists and I only deal with one of those suppliers which is Romantica, the contact details are:- Tel:-
Call 01823 674 412 & Email:- enquiries@romanticaofdevon.co.uk
Hope that helps some of you to get the information that you need.0 -

But they have no idea how much of the £720 ive paid, they have so im waiting to find that out. How did you get on today? Feed back how it went im sure everybody will want to know. I had no idea where it was or the fact that you can turn up, ill be calling Begbies later this afternoon for an update. All i need is confirmation they have gone into liquidation so i can try and get my money back through my insurance company! Just not what any of us need at all!!!!
I attended the creditors meeting last wed (31st oct) and myself and my fianc! came prepared, with some research we had carried out around trading legislation as we wanted to know what exactly had happened with the BGG as a company. The meeting was led by two staff from Begbies & Traynor and at the centre of the top table was one of the directors from the BGG, Eric Stables. We posed some probing questions on the matters which we thought where suspect;
1. When did the BGG become insolvent (i.e. trading beyond the point of no return) and why was the company still taking customers money when it realised that it could no longer fulfil customers orders?
2. Where any of the assets sold off to any other companies (i.e. their daughters Ebay account)
3. Why have the Directors of the BGG listed themselves as being actual creditors (owed in the region of £2m). Can they prove that they invested this amount of personal money? When the company is liquidated and all of the assets are distributed, they will be the biggest receiver as they are owed by far the biggest amount of money (according to their accounts).
Begbies and Traynor have advised that the BGG is now in liquidation and we will be receiving a letter together with documents stating such, which can be given to our banks in order to make a claim and hopefully we will be able to recover the money that we have lost.
I have also spoken to Pronovias, who will also be sending a letter in the post to echo the same thing, to send to the banks as further evidence/explanation of the situation.
If i hear any more, then i will let you know-i hope this info is helpful to you all!

Ive been speaking with Donna who has been lovely, really helpful. Ive received my letter from them. Ive also spoken to Santander who have informed me that i can claim all my money back through the 'charge card' scheme, so for anyone who thinks they cant claim their money abck as they have paid by debit card, definitely get in touch with your bank. I wont settle til the money is in my bank, but they have told me it will be 48 hours....fingers crossed!0 -
Hope you get things sorted. As far as your bridesmaid dresses are concerned, unless BGG paid Dessy (Alfred Sung) for them at the time of order, I think you'll find that they will still belong to Dessy! Most bridal shops have accounts with their suppliers and pay for things on account so goods remain the property of the designer until the invoice (sent at time of delivery of the dresses) is paid. But you should be able to reclaim if you paid by debit of credit card. Good luck
After inquiries the BGG had not ordered my daughters bridesmaids dresses off Dessy, they had been paid for in full, she is now having to reorder them through another bridal shop. Her cc company will repay all monies eventually. Her wedding dress is sorted but again she has to pay out the deposit through another shop.
My friends daughter ordered her bridesmaids dresses through BGG and paid in full back in June. She found out they had never placed the order and that the colour she had picked was discontinued, she had based the colour scheme of her wedding on the said dresses. She is now having to find another colour that will go with the theme or change everything, luckily she has insurance.0 -
Hi, I paid for my dress in full. Just wondering if anyone else has paid by Halifax visa debit card and been able to claim money back?
Thanks0 -

I am not having much look with my visa charge back with Lloyds as for some reason the administrators/company's bank have informed my bank that my order is being completed???? Despite the fact I have had three conversations myself with the administrators confirming that no my orders are not being completed and I need to claim my money back and then deal direct with the designers and/or another bridal shop. I would love to see how my order is being completed considering they a) didnt even order the bridesmaid dress and b) havent paid the wedding dress designers any money whatsoever!
I paid 100% for both items and need money back in order to pay again.
Waiting for a call back from the administrators as the bank say I need a letter confirming what I have paid in full and that the order is not going to be completed by the bridal gallery group and that the generic information they are saying is not good enough evidence!0
