As it is, i decided, after receiving my first hamper - which was lovely btw - that i would call and see if i could get through to NHC. My reasoning being, that if i could get through to them and confirm my order, then i wouldnt put a paypal claim in. As it was, i got through on the first attempt with no problems and was reassured that my next hamper would be sent this week. At this time, i was still within the 45 day paypal dispute timeframe.

Obviously following todays announcement, i am now out of pocket alongside many others. I have contacted the bank but only £18 of the £75 i paid came directly from my bank linked to my paypal account. The rest came from paypal funds. My bank are sending me forms out so hopefully i will be able to get some of the money back.

I, as well as many others, am very disappointed in whats happened. But there is a growing trend on here of people that seem to be getting above their station with the "i told you so's". Gloating in someone elses misfortune is a horrible trait to have, and to be honest, id rather loose out on some money than have that "holier than thou" attitude.

I was another who he rang and said he would send out my cheque from this new cheque book. I was out of time for a PayPal claim a long time ago, and as my PayPal account is linked to my bank and not a card, it came as a direct debit so basically no one could help.

I really want to swear, lots. What an utter scum bag

Of course she's aware. She was a director of the last company that went bust owing more than £7k. They know exactly what they are doing.

Might be a longshot with your bank Redouble, but with DD you are protected under the Direct Debit indemnity scheme. It may be worth speaking to them about if you can claw back under that. Fingers crossed you can

Will you let me know how you get on?

When I rang Paypal for advice, I was told I could claim under the direct debit indemnity via my bank as long as it was within 6 months. The bank would then put a claim in to Paypal who would refund and then go after the company. However when I rang my bank to start proceedings, they said that they cannot claim under the indemnity scheme if it was Paypal.

Its all a nightmare.

When I asked my bank 'informally' a few weeks ago (just in case!) they say that they would refund but if they couldn't then get the funds back from the company I would then loose my money again!
So looks like my money has gone down the drain!

I would love to say "i don't believe it" but unfortunately i can. Nobody knew when these deals were posted that this man was a complete con man, people might have speculated but no one had any evidence against him! It is easy to say i told you so or to feel silly at being conned by him but dosen't help anyone. The only winner in all of this is him. Hopefully people will get some money back from cards etc but everyone needs to make sure that this horrible, short, hairy (from pictures on twitter) liar is never able to do this to honest hardworking people again. His name and face will be remembered for a very long time!!!!! Sleep well at night Neil.
