    What a bloody fiasco!

So furious about this. Neil rang me last week and promised a cheque "as soon as I get my new cheque book" what a complete lying !!!!!!

Going to try my cc company, Tesco MasterCard, but don't hold out much hope to be honest.

Now let's hear from all those idiots who came on here sticking up for this pathetic excuse of a company. Huh, don't hold your breath

I'll be one of those "idiots" you mentioned then?

If every time a company had an issue with something, everyone jumped on the bandwagon to receive refunds then a lot more companies would go under.

As it is, i decided, after receiving my first hamper - which was lovely btw - that i would call and see if i could get through to NHC. My reasoning being, that if i could get through to them and confirm my order, then i wouldnt put a paypal claim in. As it was, i got through on the first attempt with no problems and was reassured that my next hamper would be sent this week. At this time, i was still within the 45 day paypal dispute timeframe.

Obviously following todays announcement, i am now out of pocket alongside many others. I have contacted the bank but only £18 of the £75 i paid came directly from my bank linked to my paypal account. The rest came from paypal funds. My bank are sending me forms out so hopefully i will be able to get some of the money back.

I, as well as many others, am very disappointed in whats happened. But there is a growing trend on here of people that seem to be getting above their station with the "i told you so's". Gloating in someone elses misfortune is a horrible trait to have, and to be honest, id rather loose out on some money than have that "holier than thou" attitude.

The moral high road is a lonely one

My own feeling with the Suffolk Hampers website is that he set that up in readiness for his supposed expansion plans where he said he was opening two new shops this year, one in Holt in Norfolk and the other in Southwold in Suffolk. Obviously the expansion won't happen now, but it's still worth keeping an eye on the site. He also set a new Twitter account up, but hasn't posted on it since 3rd January. @NorfolkHamperCo
If you scroll down on the link i just commented on it says neil alvey' amended 'suffolk hampers december 2012.

    I can't believe this... well, i can.

As i've said before, as much as i love hampers i didn't order from this company but feel for many of you who did.

I had a feeling the story about him waiting for a new cheque book was bull.
  • Before people start posting libellous comments about suffolkhampers.co.uk it is owned & run by an Italian family in Bury St. Edmunds who also run an italian deli/hamper company from the same address they have been trading since 2002. The .co.uk website address address has no conection whatsoever to the norfolk hamper company.

suffolkhampers.com on the other hand is a very similar domain name which is indeed owned by Neil Alvey of the norfolk hamper company there is currently no website set up at that address.

Tempted to order the cheapest hamper avialable from suffolkhampers.co.uk and pay by paypal (which is an option!) and see what turns up/where it comes from/which courier delivers safe in the knowledge I can put a claim in within 45 days for a refund via Paypal!

I don't think anyone has made any libellous comments, just commenting that parallels can be drawn in the hostmaster and server names of the .com and .co.uk websites, one of which is definitely owned by Neil Alvey. Hopefully the family running the .co.uk address will put a statement on their website distancing themselves from this sorry state of affairs.

I've had the email as well. I feel so sorry for those who got neither ther hampers or money refunded by Paypal.
I just hope most of you can get your money back via chargebacks.

I was lucky as I managed to get my money back via Paypal thanks to all the good information I found on this thread.
I did get delivered 1 hamper which I have kept hold of & asked Neil if he'd like it back if he paid the return carriage. Think I'll be quite safe now to unpack it & use it!
  • well, well, well.....I've just read my e-mail!

I received some hampers in December (not the ones I expected but I could live with that) and I was waiting for the 12 + 12 monthly hamper deal. I'm gutted that I've been 'had'!

I've no idea how this man sleeps at night and how he can look his wife in the eye as she puts food on their table which my hard earned pennies have paid for. She may of course be fully aware that he's taken money from people and given them nothing in return...if so shame on you too!

I'm out of the 45 days with paypal and am presently clinging to a feint glimmer of hope that my credit card company can recover my money....I will report back.

  • Afternoon all,

I have been reading this thread for a while now, as I ordered the deal in August, and was still waiting for the two jams, and two sweet hampers.

I also went 1/2s on the 12 month deal with my sister, so was waiting for 9 hampers from that.

Had not posted before, as was willing to give the guy a chance, but now wished I hadn't bothered.

My sister ( who paid for the deal) is going to try to claim the £110 back on the 12+12 deal, but I will put the August loss down to experience.

I am most angry that he can get away with this Scott free, and start another company with our money.

I will never do another deal like this again, where you pay upfront for goods provided later, so an expensive lesson for me.

Thanks to all on this thread for keeping us updated, and, lets hope Kama catches up with Neil.

    Sally.
