    This is absolutely disgusting!!

I really feel for the people he has 'ripped' off (myself included) and I'm also fuming!

I'm owed £130, I haven't received any of the 8 hampers I ordered and he hasn't responded to any of my emails dating back to before Christmas. I've opened a case with my bank and they require more information which I am in the process of dealing with now.

My sister who isn't an MSE'er, ordered the 3+3 deal and hasn't received her hampers either. Neil actually replied to one of her emails about 2 weeks ago saying that he was waiting for a new cheque book and her refund would arrive in the next few days.. obviously this has never materialised!!

So as a family we are owed £190!!!! What the flip has he done with all the money???????:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

This was stated for the customers who were affected by Blockbuster, it is definately worth a try:

If something goes wrong, or Blockbuster changes its policy, under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act, card firms are jointly liable with a retailer if something goes wrong, if the item you bought cost over £100. But most of what Blockbuster sells costs less than that.

So if you paid by credit card for goods under £100, or any amount on a debit card, you may be able to claim via the Visa, Mastercard or American Express chargeback schemes.

This is an often little-known clause that allows you to claim within 120 days from your card provider. While this is in your contract with your card provider, it is not a legal right.

If you did buy something over £100 with a credit card, then you should be covered under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act, giving you a legal right to claim from your card company.

I hope the outstanding customers all used cards then. I paid in full by paypal so I was lucky that the company refused to respond to my claim and they paid me in full before this next part of the saga :(

Did you not pay through paypal? When I ordered it was the payment option so I presumed payments were all taken in that manner and they will intervene and refund.

An update from Norfolk Trading Standard's Facebook page...

The Norfolk Hamper Company Limited – Update 21 January 2013

Today we have been informed by The Norfolk Hamper Company Limited that they have ceased trading. No further refunds or hampers will be sent out from today (21 January 2013). We understand the company has sent an email to customers informing them of this and has posted a notification on their website. It is important that, if you have not done so already, that you report any problems with the company via Citizens Advice Consumer Helpline on 08454 04 05 06 or via the on-line form
    https://ssl.datamotion.com/form.aspx?co=3438&frm=citacomplainform&to=flare.fromforms .
This will help us with our ongoing investigations into the company.

For those consumers that did not obtain refunds/hampers our advice would be to try to seek a chargeback from your bank if you paid by debit card. For purchases over £100 paid by credit card you should claim against your credit card company. Regardless of the amount paid on credit card you should also check your credit card terms and conditions as many will voluntarily cover you if you have received nothing at all for your money. If you paid via PayPal and are within the time restriction for making a claim you can try raising a dispute as soon as possible.

The company may appear to be ‘active’ on paper for several weeks until Companies House officially strikes it off. You should be aware that if an insolvency practitioner is appointed, they may not be able to help you if the company is bankrupt and has no assets left. Trading Standards has tried to help resolve outstanding problems but we have no powers to make the company refund. Anyone owed money could consider taking legal action against the company, but you would have to pay a court fee and there is no guarantee you will actually get any money back.

If you need further advice about your individual options for redress, please contact Citizens Advice consumer helpline on 08454 04 05 06 or via the on-line form

I used Paypal too but my paypal account is funded by my credit card. If your paypal account is funded by either your debit or credit card then a chargeback should be possible. The majority of people will be too late for Paypal claims as most of the orders were well before Christmas but some may have more luck with their bank/card provider if their paypal account is funded from their card.

I will apologise now, as I have no idea how these things work, so I am be wrong, but-

I was wondering of any of you could get anything from Norfolk Trading Standards, as they could have stopped this happening in December.

what do you mean by get anything back from Trading Standards? They cannot enforce anything like refunds and are not culpable for the collapse of NHC. You need to do 1 of the 3 options I have mentioned already.
24 beers in a case - 24 hours in a day. Coincidence?

But also bear in mind that might be a genuine new little business that are just sorting out their website and not fair to avoid them or tar them with this brush. Fingers crossed it might be a decent new little business so I can finally find a decent hamper company to use for long distance presents.:o

Yes but was informed that it was outside of the 45 days (both orders placed on 8th October) so I'm dealing direct with my bank. Unsure yet what my sister will do, she's aware of the situation and is giving me a call later.
