Yes it possible and should be quite simple to do. The only thing which I would say may go against doing so is if you need to get either system repaired under warrantee. Most big manufactures usually place paint marks on screws/clips to identify if the system has been tampered with.Welcome, rogerramjet.

ok, thanks. When I swap hard drives will the system simply boot as normal on both laptops, or is there anything that ill need to do. Will I need to format the hard drive again and reinstall windows when Ive put the new drives in the different machines. heard it can be a bit of a problem if you havent done it before.0

Should just boot and then find any different drivers that either system may have. As the main components (board, Memory, etc) are going to be similar the only things if may need to install is drivers for graphics and wireless which maybe already pre-installed anyway.
Just put them in and try...nothing at all to lose in doing so.Welcome, rogerramjet.

I am interested in buying one of the dell inspiron 1150 laptops for £445 mentioned but there is no option to upgrade to a DVDrw. I have spoken to sales and the inspiron 1150 is being discontinued and they have no allocated dvdrw's so Dell can't help. I know i can use an external USB one but I would prefer an internal.
Has anyone spotted something suitable at a decent price?
cheers.0 -
My 1150 P4 2.8 (No cd-rw) is being prepared for shipment!
Maybe they are waiting for stock of the cd-rw? Might be worth asking them what they are waiting for.0 -

What about buying an internal DVD writer for a desktop (they are going for £20 - 40 now) and then get a USB/firewire casing (I think casings cost about £20)?"An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind" - Mahatma Gandhi0 -

Does the 1150 have an internal antenna for wireless networking? What I'm trying to figure out is if I want to connect it to my home broadband connection will I be able to do this by getting a router and a pc card like here http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0002A45AO/ref=cm_mp_wli_/026-5506205-5577209 or do I need to get an internal antenna of some kind? Any advice would be appreciated!0
