I'm in the process of claiming back charges for my OH, he's with CCCS for his DMP and all the charges I'm claiming (3 seperate amounts) are all with Barclays. They offered under 1/3 of what they owe, but when they made the offer they asked for bank account details where the money could be paid, I assume because all the accounts are closed?
    :j Almost 2 stones gone! :j

  • After successfully proving the Halifax liable for £4.500 of unfair bank charges over the last six years, their final offer to us was £1,744. This was all based on a £1000 overdraft-our only debt with them. The sneaky trick was that because our finances are under the CCCS, our management plan allows them to take a£10 payment per month. Unfortunately, they have continued to add charges, so that we owed more than we started with! They put their returned charges into our account, paying off their own overdraft and made us 'beg' for the remaining £600! I'm not sure who came off best there. Needless to say, we've closed the account!
  • I am currently on payment plans with a few credit cards with little or no interest being added to my outstanding amounts. Before these payment plans were set up I had been charged huge amounts to them in charges. If i try to reclaim them will it affect the payment plans i have now got.. I am worried that they will want me to pay them the remaining debt in full... which i cannot afford to do.
  • Can any one tell me if it is still possible to reclaim bank charges if you are in an IVA. If so is there anything different I need to do.

    Hi all

I did a quick search on this but couldn't find anything.

Can you reclaim bank charges from a bank that you have entered into a dmp with? I'm just wondering because if I could, and I were successful then it would surely be to their advantage because I could pay it back off what I owe them.

The bank in question is RBS .... I've been in my dmp (via payplan) since January and RBS have accepted my payment offers.

I haven't tried to reclaim until now but as they've closed my bank account, defaulted my account etc .... I thought that maybe I have nothing to lose.

    What say you?

    Cheers

Ive been given the full go ahead to claim them. They may go towards your debt, but thats only a good thing
