Wooo! Two bits of good news this morning. I finally have a start date confirmed (MONDAY! Eeek!) and the deposit money is back into my account.:j
All I need to is find somewhere to live (the place I'm in is only temporary) and then I should be back to some normality.
I need to get dressed and go to the post office but it looks totally grim outside. Winter is definitely hereTotal: £50,676 £0 🥳 The journey to debt freedom0 -
Congrats on both counts Pencakes!
Are you renting? Remember and try Gumtree etc as some people are trying to keep costs down and not using estate agents.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. Thank you!
Yep I'm renting and gumtree is my friend! Its just a pain because Im getting a place with my friends but they cant move to London yet to I'm staying in short lets for the time being..And the rents seem to be skyrocketing at the mo!
I really, really need to get dressed now!Total: £50,676 £0 🥳 The journey to debt freedom0 -
I don't envy you renting in London, that was me in the late 90s. I house-shared all the time I was down there and paid £300 a month for my room (not including bills) for my room in a shared house in the SW. I did look at a place with the then bf but a garage which had been converted into a small flat but still had the garage door on it (very illegal I'm guessing and if you want to open the wardrobe door you had to stand on the bed... thats how little room there was!) and it was £650 excluding bills. I did look a few months ago when job hunting to see what rents were like in certain areas but without knowing what some areas are like would you know what you were getting? A friend had a very cushy number down there. She had found a family that (all legally) had built a small one bed flat on top of their garage with a view that their son may use it when he was older. She got a decent rent with bills included in return for babysitting 2 nights and 2 afternoons a month.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. I'm looking at at least £550-£750 a month, for a double room in a houseshare and thats excluding bills! Ive seen some rooms for upwards of £950 a month!!! Crazy prices.
Once I get a place with my friends we should be able to get something which is a lot better value for money, but until then I will be paying over the odds for the convenience of a short term let.
Im just too attached to London to leave!:rotfl:Total: £50,676 £0 🥳 The journey to debt freedom0 -
Finally made it outside, the rain is horrible! I'll still got my scarf on!
I'm making myself a stew today, its definitely a day for comfort food. I've been good and used stuff from the cupboard:money:
Got a quiet weekend planned apart from... a date! I met a lovely irish man last weekend and this would be date no. 2! He's different to my normal type but he makes me laugh which is just what I need at the mo!Total: £50,676 £0 🥳 The journey to debt freedom0 -

Where are you off to on your date pencakes? Hope you have a lovely time.
About somewhere to live, do you know anyone that works at sky? As its such a large company there's a lot of people list rooms to let which are a bit more competitively priced (and generally come with sky in your room). I used to work there and there was always a lot getting advertised.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. Date didn't happen
The boy has only just got in touch acting as if nothing was planned for this evening. How rude!
I don't know anyone at sky unfortunately otherwise that would have been ideal. I have couple of viewings lined up so hopefully I will be ok. I better be, I've only got 7 days left here!
I'm so dead today, I didnt feel too good when I got up this morning so I made myself get some fresh air and I ended walking for 7 miles! My poor little legs!:rotfl:Total: £50,676 £0 🥳 The journey to debt freedom0
