A nosehair trimmer from MIL. Who exclaimed oh no and that it was meant for DH instead. Who looked at it at which point she said yeah but just bin it as it is rubbish anyway.
So why buy it and wrap it up :rotfl:0 -
My grandma is always one for bizarre presents. My brothers still get Lynx shower gel sets in discontinued fragrances despite being well past the Lynx stage and onto much more expensive aftershaves.
When we were much younger, she bought my cousin frog-themed items for about 5 or 6 Christmasses running, before he finally had the courage to tell her he didn't like frogs. Or rather, he had the "courage" to flounce off in a huff bellowing "I DON'T EVEN LIKE FROGS! I'VE JUST GOT A GREEN BEDROOM!"
She bought my 2 month old daughter a ceramic pencil holder from a National Trust property last year.
I do love the fact she thinks of us in her own little way though. Far nicer and more amusing than a tenner shoved in a card
On a different note, my friend bought me a Fray Bentos pie for my 21st birthday.0 -
Someone got a friend of mine a sausage making kit.....she was 23 at the time and lived at home with her parents. In no way would she have either wanted or used the darn thing!0

My sister once got me this ceramic frog toilet brush. It wasn't like a tiny frog either, it was massive. It's lot even like I collect frogs or ceramic animals, or toilet brushes even. It was the most bizarre Christmas present ever. And she doesn't hate me (at least I don't think she does!).
A friend once told me his father-in-law who hated him, gave him a half full bottle of aftershave - and he had a beard.
OMG how funny, a very ex ex ex ex BF gave me a ceramic pink monkey with a spring head, it was gawdawful and when I asked him why? he said quite nonchalantly " it reminded me of you" what the little........................................... anyhow we didnt make it to new years to say the least aaargh still sends shivers down my spine:( find it funny now but yes what a bizarre gift, honestly what goes through peoples minds really the mind does boggle!LOVE isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live WITHOUT

My aunt bought me a pair of size 6 fishnet tights. Aside from the fact that I'm not - and have never been - someone who would wear anything close to fishnet tights, I was a size 16 at the time.
For my birthday a friend bought me a Blu-ray disc of a BBC science documentary. I'm not interested in watching a science documentary, I don't have a Blu-ray player (and she knows that), and she'd bought it in Canada so I couldn't even swap it for a normal DVD. Not only that, she gave it to me at the end of November - 6 months after my birthday.' <-- See that? It's called an apostrophe. It does not mean "hey, look out, here comes an S".0 -
Thank you for reminding me to tell my husband to stop buying me hardback books - the sort that are 'coffee table' books. I only ever read in bed and large books are impossible to handle, so they sit unread on the book case. I think he thinks if he keeps buying me books on gardening, he may get Kew gardens.......
Worst present ever was a birthday present from a then boyfriend who I was nuts about at the time. Took me away for a weekend, had a lovely romantic meal, at the end of it he shoves across a small tin with a picture of a cat on it. Heart starts pounding, could this possibly contain something shiny and ring shaped? No, it was a minature Swiss army knife.

My nan has always been one for strange gifts. I always get a bag full of chocolate (despite the fact she knows I'm not the biggest chocolate fan) and money which is always nice but then she then tends to give a few "bonus" gifts.
This year on my birthday it was Oprah magazine, fabric softener and an envelope with the name of my unborn child's name with a huge question mark on it. Inside the envelope was a two pack of dummies and a handwritten notebook full of baby boy names such as Clarence, Eugene, Victor, Kevin and, my personal favourite, Claude. I'm assuming nan doesn't like the name we've picked out...
Actually can't wait until Christmas!Have I helped? Feel free to click the 'Thanks' button. I like to feel useful (and smug).

OH bought me a 'Fat Slags' video one year because I liked reading their tales in Viz magazine (or was it a comic???). We're still together because I could sort of understand why he'd bought it and he's much, much better at present buying now - thanks to very pointed comments from me

When I was 14, I got a recipe book for 'Fast Food' and my 15 year old sister a book on 'freezing food' - this from an aunt and we both still lived at home, by the time we'd both left home, I didn't even know where the books were.
My nan used to buy me puzzles - I hated them and never did them and the very same Aunt used to buy us boxed sets of bath cubes and soap, all very flowery and heavily fragranced......0 -
My sister bought me a very nice lamp from TK Maxx, about 9 years ago. Unfortunately, it didn't work so I asked her for the receipt so that I could change it for a working one. (It still had the price tag on it so I didn't think she'd mind me asking for the receipt)
She said that she would take it back as she was going there anyway for the sale. I've never seen the lamp, nor any replacement since!"I may be many things but not being indiscreet isn't one of them"0 -

Worst adult present came from my sister, who gave me a god awful large photo of myself in a frame.
