Or use consumeractiongroup.com - they have a number of spreadsheets and templates that can be saved and edited.
  • I've just received my spreadsheet from Abbey national about what charges have been taken from my account etcetera, but it has left me totally confused!

What is a 'Total Cleared Transaction Charge' and can I reclaim it?

In oct 05 I was charged £240 just for that one category and have no idea what it is! Sounds too high to be a normal charge.. any idea?

Also, Which of the following CAN I reclaime?

    Total Cleared Transaction Charges
    Total Unpaid Direct Debit Charges
    Total Unpaid Cheque Charges
    Total Unpaid Standing Order Charges
    Total Unauthorised Overdraft Fees

Any help with this would be most appreciated! Thank you guys!

You can claim all of the above, not sure about Total Cleared Transaction Charges though. I don't know what they are...

  • Some of the 'cleared' ones are the charges they've taken out so I assume I can reclaim them.. but the £240 has stumped me!

I suggest you ask them what exactly the charge is for as it does sound unreasonable. Or have a good look through your paperwork.

I have just read on a different forum that a cleared transaction charge is the charge a bank made for allowing a transaction to go through even though there were not enough funds in the account. If thats the case, you can claim these back. Does that sound like what they could be?

  • hi.

I am currently overdrawn withthe Abbey, and I have been subject to charges in the past.

If I proceed with a claim will I be able to offer they offset the abbey OD with the charges, or will they just pay up?

    Regards James
