    Jax321,
Sorry to disagree, but Abbey were completely unperturbed when I informed them (in June) that I had reported them to the Information Commissioner for non-compliance with the 40 day ruling; it was then over 100 days since my request. It's now about 150 days, and still nothing!!! Will they be held accountable to anyone for this?

In view of the news on BBC this morning, what shall I do, I am due in Court with Abbey on the 13th, are all Court dates going to be shelved, it has taken me ages to get to this point and Im a bit dissapointed now that its going to be another long time before its sorted. What do others think is the right thing to do? The banks are  not going to negotiate now are they?

  • Just been speaking to a lady who works at the abbey head office and the lady said that all customers who have been offered a settelement figure and have accepted will get paid out buy cheque or deposit in to their accounts within ten days of the agreed letter to settle. The recent OFT will not effect anyone who as been made an offer.

I have allready recieved my cheque from abbey 2 weekas ago but i thought i would check up for any other customers who have said yes to settle and are concerned over the OFT.

    All the best

Thanks and congrats on your claim.

We were in the same position, our court date was for the 8th. Submitted the court bundle on 23rd July. Just received a letter from Abbey today to say that they're paying out!!!!:T :T :T :T

and it's more than we claimed for!! two lots of interest, but not paying our expenses claim, even so it's still £300 more than we expected ... £4,705!!

I am so chuffed, hang in there, they will settle I'm sure if you've already got a court date set.

Oh well done you!!! I have not been asked to submit a court bundle, the judge said in the letter that nothing more was needed, do you think this will go against me? It would be nice if they did settle everyone's who had a court date because it takes such a long time from start to finish. And all the cost add on's too, still result for you, congratulations.

Surprise surprise Abbey are now saying my 'request' has ended up in their banking department instead of their credit card department by mistake - and it will take 2 weeks for it to get 'transferred' from one to the other.

    From the Abbey website....

    http://www.abbeynational.co.uk/csgs/Satellite?c=GSInformacion&cid=1181580360861&pagename=Abbey/GSInformacion/GS_DetallePie

For those people who have received a goodwill gesture from Abbey, please ensure you write back and accept in part payment and without prejudice but will be proceeding with your claim for the remainder once this "test case" is completed.

Please do the same if you have a received a final offer that is below your claim, accept it now but insist that your claim isn't closed at this point and that you will be continuing with it at a later date.
