Don't take too much notice.
She got PPR'd earlier this morning. What a shame, we'll miss her and her intelligent insightful contributions so much.
Public appearances now involve clothing. Sorry, it's part of my bail conditions.0 -

Is it just me or this this recipe (which apparently the sumoists live on) not sound too high in calories:
Sumo Stew Recipe
1 gallon chicken broth
I whole white onion chopped
salt/pepper
3 carrots chopped
1.5 lb of chicken thigh meat (pre cooked)
minced garlic
1 bunch celery chopped
1 cup of white rice (un cooked)
3 oz. olive oil
Pretty much the only things with energy in are the oil (750 calories), chicken (1500 calories) and the rice (700) so we have about 3,000 calories in well over a gallon of food.
I couldn't eat that, even after a huge ride. I always understood that they ate a sweet fish stew which kinda makes more sense.

I think thats a version for westerners, It is usualy made with miso added and sweetened soy sauce, the idea is they eat and chat for about an hour then have a long nap so the weight piles on, the soup is meant to stretch the stomach and they drink loads of beer too.
Another recipe here.

That version seems more reasonable and more likely! I eat a fair amount of Japanese food here although I have cooked very little.
Thank you. I'll have to give it a go. I'm guessing that the balance between the alcohols and the dashi's is going to be the key to making a good, bad or great version of this dish.0 -
You are in the right place for Japanese food, some of the Australian Shihan and Shidoshi instructors in my MA were telling me that Japanese food in Australia is better than in Japan, I thought they were boasting until one of the Japanese guys agreed! The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. My BiL did a degree in Japanese and spent several years living in Japan. Each time a new Japanese restaurant opens in central Sydney he checks it out and we go to the best value one for my birthday most years.
I'm looking forward to Mrs Generali working so that we can go to the best rather than the best value!0
