Who are you to say what knowledge I have? You don't know me.
Look it up if you don't want to believe me : anyone weighing 30 stone needs a huge amount of calories just to keep their bodies ticking over. The larger you are the more calories the body needs to keep you alive.
Athletes can consume up to 8000 caloies a day just to maintain their bulk (albeit muscular) and to compensate for the enegy their bodies use.
OK, a morbidly obese person wouldn't be exercising, but their body would still need a vast amount of calories to sustain their weight. A 30 stone woman would lose weight if she were to consume 3000 cals a day. It would be a slow loss, but it would be a loss nontheless, until she reached a plateau and had to reduce her calorie intake even more.
As I said before, a woman of average height and weight needs around 2200 calories to maintain their weight. You're saying that a woman who weighs at least 3 times that would not lose weight on just 800 extra calories a day???
A quick google of weight loss calculators shows that a sample female of 35 years, 5ft 5" tall and weighing 30 stone (with a sedentary lifestyle) would need to consume 3122 calories in order to maintain her weight. Reducing that amount to 3000 as in your example would make little or no difference.Herman - MP for all!

Firstly, many people are obese because of various genetic or metabolic problems, not because of huge overeating. I've seen some very fat people who eat moderately and several slim people who stay slim despite eating non-stop all day. Having said that, it's probably true that the typical working class supper is something fried or a take-away, while the middle class person is more likely to have a more varied diet. Poorer people are also more likely to eat junk food like crisps, sweets, etc, as they are cheap.
I think you'll find that a lot of very fat people eat on the quiet in secret. Sometimes they even manage to fool themselves that they eat like a bird. I personally know of one woman who used to store packets of biscuits, family sized packets of Twix, large bags of Kettle crisps, cheese dippy things, Dairylea Spreads, Nutella, Crackers etc all under her bed.
Every night after dinner - her plate had the least amount on it, cos she claimed to have a small appetite and couldn't eat large amounts - she'd leave her family in the lounge watching TV while she went upstairs to read on her bed, and quietly chomped her way though her stash. She even hid the wrappers in a pillowcase.
So when an obese person claims they hardly eat a thing - I'd take that with a sack of salt.0 -
Not the 8000 calories that you stated in your original post though. You seem to be back pedalling rather quickly.
20 stone for many women is morbidly obese. To maintain that, they could do so on 2500 calories a day.
Oh I see the nutter, Brit (sock puppet name, Re-Wired) has come on to vent his anger. Agree with everyone who disagees with me, Re-Wired/Brit - you siding with them negates their argument!! lol
No-one would want your thumbs up!
Go and find that house I told you to look for.:D0 -

I'm not backpeddling at all.
The fact is a morbidly obese person does not stay obese if they reduce their calorie intake to 2500 a day. That's a medical fact. The bigger your bulk the more calories needed to maintain the size.
And............how do you think someone gets to 30 stone? By eating just over 2500 cals a day? You need to eat an extra 3000 calories to gain 1lb of weight...........so do the maths. It's very simple.0 -
Last time (I promise) but how the heck does anyone end up like this? And WHO gives then food!
Turn your face to the sun and the shadows fall behind you.0 -
I'm reading this while eating cheese omelette, chips and beans for tea. Earlier today I've had:
2 bits of toast for brekky
3 bananas across the day
1 pretty cr4p warm sausage roll from the food van at the corner of the industrial estate.

Probably not as wobbly though.0 -

Sadly, our 'no judgement' culture means the tax payer probably funds carers to come in and feed the obese.
Rough love would be a lot better; 1000 calories a day until they can walk to the fridge for themselves.0 -
Still a lot of food Nazis around, I see. Shares in junk science are a good bet too, I shouldn't wonder..0

Yes you are back pedalling. You said that a morbidly obese person would have to eat 8000 calories to maintain their weight.
The actual truth is very, very far from that. It's okay to admit that you got carried away you know.
