i am after a sat nav that has bluetooth and free traffic info if anyone can recommend any places...? I need to buy it this week as planning a trip away next weekend..so any suggestions on which shops sell any decent machines...approx budget is around £220.
    thanks

Garmin NUVI 610T here for £210. Another option is the ViaMichelin 970T here.

There are problems with receiving RDS-TMC messages, mainly because of the string aerial you get, the best option i think is the Garmin GTM 10 from here £68, this attaches to your car aerial, then buy the NUVI 310 for £160 from here

Ok, spotted the glitch in the flyers they send out stating that the offer is the Tom Tom One XL GB, so flew down to Currys who have a notice next to the Sat Navs saying something along the lines of ' Sorry, but the flyer was a misprint and offer is on the Standard Tom Tom'.

I called one of the staff over and asked if they could honour the price of the flyer etc and she said no. (I stupidly forgot to take the flyer with me in my haste to get down there).

So I've come home and read all the T&Cs at the back and says 'All prices correct going to press blah blah, off runs until Tuesday blah blah...

...so, I'm thinking of trying another store. Do they HAVE the honour the flyer price or would I be arguing at the next store without a leg to stand on?

    Thanks

According to what I have been reading on hotdealsuk.com, it is up tot he discretion of individual store managers whether they will do the XL for £149. If you have a leaflet take it with you. What other people are also doing is taking the leaflet to Comet who have a price match policy whereby they match prices and give you 10% of the difference also. So one person got the XL for less than £149 because of this.

Definitely worth a try BUT Curry's DO NOT have to honour the £149 price.

The Tomtom ONE Version 2(black screen surround, SD card slot) and the ONE XL do not come with free traffic, you have to pay £40 a year for the Tomtom PLUS services, you need a bluetooth mobile with GPRS for this. The new Tomtom ONE version 3(silver screen surround, No SD card slot) can be used with the tomtom RDS-TMC traffic receiver with sells for about £50. The only current Tomtom models that can be used for mobile handsfree calling are the 510,520,710,720 and the 910, see here

The Navman is fine but i think the Garmin NUVI 610T is better, its widescreen for a start. The Garmins are also much easier to add additional 'Points of interest' like speed cameras to and the map updates are cheaper.

    Update from my ealier posts.

I went to another Currys (Oldham, Elk Mill) and asked for a Tom Tom One XL and took it to the desk. I was told it was £199 so showed the flyer and then the assistant called someone over. The guy refused to honour the price saying it was a misprint and I should have known this by looking at the picture.

I said if I was paying £150 for something, I'm more likely to read the description than look at the pic, but he was having none of it. Went over to Comet to see if they would price match but the guy said that Currys had to have some in stock. I told him they did so then he said it muct be a misprice and asked why I never bought it then ... anyway, cut a long story short, the Comet guy said to ring Currys telephone sales and see if they offered it that way.

I rang Currys phone sales and they said it was coming up on screen as £181.89 (web price) and that it was a misprint but was very helpful, said he had put himself in my shoes and said he would phone the store for me. Store wouldn't budge so he said he would do me a deal and sell it to me at £149 but over the phone and be delivered in 5 working days.

Fair enough, gave him my details and sorted it out.

Now the proud owner of a Tom Tom One XL GB for £149. :T :T :T
  • Evening people!

I got a bargain today. Decided to stop off at Stirling in Scotland and popped into Superdrug, on entering the store i spotted this....

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Intempo-Buddy-Sat-Nav-System/dp/B000GK9IKW

    On the shelf at £49.99!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got the last two on the shelf and did ask if they had more. They said that it was stock from Xmas and were selling it cheap.

Not sure if all stores have this but worth checking at this price!!!

What's the difference between a One and a One XL?
The pen is mightier than the sword, and considerably easier to write with.
