    I've just found this one

Its the same one as Halfords BUT it has got the Mains Charger unit and other bits that Halfords doesn't - and its only £94.99 (take free delivery i.e. Supersaver, it arrives just as quick anyway ;) )

It is reputed to be very hackable for updates/traffic cams/POI but you'll have to read up/find sources for that.
The bankers stole my pension (and everyone else's). It should have earned a lot of money, but they took their bonus pot first.
  • I have been given the Nuvi 310. Anyone know a cheap place to buy the European Map, and also any other goodies that go with that model?

Is it me, or have I been hearing alot of stories recently about people's cars being broken into to nick their sat nav. This has really put me off getting one.

I was reading that thieves know easily that someone has one as most people leave the cradle still in place and thieves know that 99% of people leave the Sat nav in the car somewhere (more often than not in the glove compartment, under seat or in boot) as they are too cumbersome to take round with you.

Cheapest option is to get the Garmin Nuvi 270 from Amazon for £180 here, it comes with UK, European and USA mapping.

People steal car radio / CD player and airbags, or even whole cars, but does that stop you having one? Seriously though, you have to use common sense and don't advertise that you have one. I'd be more concernened about wheteher I need one and the erratic reliability of the units - don't get me wrong, I think they're great, but not that great yet.

    Steal airbags?

Are the cradles that easy to keep taking out and sticking back in?

Yes apparently there is a market for second-hand airbags

I think most sat-navs un-clip easily fro the cradle my - Navman does - the cradle is usually on a sucker, so it's easy, but a pain to remove. What I don't understand is why there is an option to fit them elsewhere - my one fits nicely where the dials are in my Alhambra - ok it obscures my coputer display, but whats more important, my fuel consumption or knowing whewre I'm going? - i drove accross france yesterday with it in this position, and before anyone asks - signal strength was Ok - even with a heated screen.
