Hey guys - OK were going off subject - Peace !

Getting back to the subject - is the one at £98 in ASDA a Nuvi 300 or 300T or are the in fact both the same. I ask because the woman in my ASDA insists its £202.

It'll be the lesser model for sure, my missus works at t'asda they had one left (@£99), I was gonna get it, but just bought a c510 a couple of weeks before and the 300 didn't have any more features....

The one in Asda is the Nuvi 300, if you want the traffic receiver it can be found for about £60. As has already been said the RDS TMC traffic add-ons work but not all the time, they can be affected by where you are in the country and also your car. If you do plan to buy one make sure it comes with the UK subscription, as the ones sold to work in europe don't need a subscription(with the exception of some french services).

Models to look at are the Tomtom 910 and 720. Garmin 660. Mio C520. Navigon 7110. Acer P630. They range from £230-330, all have bluetooth, europe and widescreen.

Koenig, yes the tomtom ONE and Nuvi 300 have the same size screen, 3.5".

I want to buy my OH a sat-nav to replace his Gramin i3. He likes the Garmin range but wants bluetooth and Europe maps. They seem to only do either or unless you spend silly money.
My question is can you buy a Garmin with preloaded UK maps and then update to Europe maps? We updated his i3 free to version 9 NT Europe maps. Would this update work on the Garmin Nuvi?

You can get an upgrade DVD if the Nuvi has version 8 maps. As theses are reduced ones in Asda I would guess that they have v8 maps.

I also believe if you already have the Europe NT V9 Maps DVD you can unlock maps for two garmin devices. Your existing i3 and the Nuvi.

NO traffic modules for SatNavs work well (or at all!) in the UK.

The transmitter signal strengths are inadequate. The receivers are designed for a transmitter power level way above that used in the UK.

    Don't waste your money.

They don't work unless you wire them in to your car radio aerial and even then, only if you've got an amplified one.

The traffic module for my Navman picks up the signal from Classic FM just fine.

However, it is still useless as the info it provides is almost always miles out of date.
