http://www.best-satnav-deals.co.uk/
i have been looking on that site....anyone know which of the TomTom ones are the best value? Also do they include speed cameras or do we have to pay extra? thanks so much i am really thick!!!
Just decide if you want the UK or Europe maps, and also if you want bluetooth on the satnav to use as a handsfree for your mobile, quite useful. Don't worry too much about speed cameras, all the units below can warn you(£19 per year max here), the Garmin units come with a free 3 month subscription, tomtom were doing a year for free, not sure if the offer is still on.
Best of the bunch are the ones below, all depends what you want:
Garmin NUVI 250 £170(Halfords online) europe
Garmin NUVI 310 £160(Amazon), UK and bluetooth
Tomtom Europe £190
Tomtom ONE £150, UK maps
Tomtom 510 £220, UK and bluetooth
Also good but takes more time to get used to is the Mio C510E for £150, comes with europe, bluetooth and a years subscription to speed cameras, here
Announcing the road names is generally known as text-to-speech and can be found on the Tomtom 910 Garmin NUVI 350 and Nuvi 360
If you live in Crawley perhaps you should look at getting a Navman satnav as their UK head office is in Horley!!0 -

Most of the satnavs under £250 don't come with a home mains charger but its not really a problem as most of the time its plugged in to the car. Many of the satnavs use a mini USB connection and you can pick them up for £5-7 or just use your computer to charge it.0 -
Thanks boatman ur a star!!!
I only need GB tbh I was actually thinking of TomTom one GB XL....would u recommend this as a good one?All men hear is blah, blah, blah, blah, SEX, blah, blah, blah, FOOD, blah, blah, blah, BEER:wall:0 -
Best bet is to look at these forums, it will give you a good idea, the XL doesn't come with text-to-speech(TT910 only) or bluetooth. The TT510 is a little bulkier than the XL but it does come with bluetooth handsfree and is cheaper here

Tomtom do have a couple of new models out but not until July, the 520(replaces the 510) may well be worth waiting for, probably more than £250:

I know your keen on Tomtom but an alternative is the NUVI 610 for the same money as the TT XL but it also comes with bluetooth for mobile handsfree, and a case.
Here
For a little more (£250) you can get it with the traffic reciever which alerts you to roadworks, traffic jams etc.

Ragtag.
Good unit but you'll need to buy the computer connection kit for £15(so £125 total) so you can update maps and speed cameras etc. Given you can get the Tomtom ONE for £140 and the map updates are cheaper I think i'd still go for the Tomtom.0 -
Hi,
After a bit of advice really. We're looking for an entry level unit ideally with European Maps (although this isn't essential). We'd like a unit that can get you back on track if you take a wrong turn and gives an updated estimated time of arrival.
Apart from that not sure what else I should be looking for to be honest
All advice gratefully receivedYou laugh because I'm different - I laugh because you're all the same0
