    Hi navig8r /Dave
To get this with europe maps (France) what do I need???
Am a real dunce where these things are concerned!
Do I need soft wear? Do I need to pay for contract?? Do I need to pay for calls???
    sorry these are basic questions!!
Oh my phone is a Nokia N73
Oh again what is the best stuff for me and my phone???
    Thanks
    Richard
hi, You need several items for sat nav on a compatable phone one of which you have ,the others are a BT receiver ,maps and a memory card large enough to hold your maps.if you want Great britain ireland and western europe you will need 2GB which will leave some space for other things..once you have bought your kit there are no other costs involved other than a recommended £19 sub to Pocket gps world for speed camers warnings and map updates ..

If you Google tomtom mobile and N73 you will find lots of forums with good info.

but if you are not to well up on these thing you may be better off with one of the all in one units

after lots of reading and info, i have just bought the "tomtom One Version2 GB".

so many to choose from, but its sleek design, cheap (and free if you look hard enough) speed camera updates and many uploadable voices(again free in certain places) are some of the reasons i bought it.

but the price was good as well.

I would have liked to get a better spec one so i could have got the TomTom RDS traffic bit and have free traffic updates but i couldnt quantify the money side. (tomtom One doesnt work with the RDS piece)
also having what is considered the best company means that support should be ideal and i should be able to find a few gems of things on the tinterweb as well.

    i got mine from amazon.co.uk
not the very cheapest, but they had it in stock

How would you get the speed camera updates free, I mean where is there to look?
    Thanx

Whats the next model up from tomtom one v2 to do traffic updates and mobile calls with the tom toms then as I'm just trying to decide if its worth the extra cost. Is it one of the tomtom go ones?
    Thanx

I'm not claiming this is the cheapest overall but if you're due a new phone contract then Palm are offering a free Sat Nav kit (GPS receiver + TomTom v6 software) if you buy a Treo (either the Palm or Windows version) before 27th July: http://euro.palm.com/uk/en/gpsmay07/index.html

Got mine yesterday and works very well, and as long as you can provide Palm with a dated invoice then you don't have to actually pay out anything for the phone itself - if you get it free on a contract you'll still get the GPS free. I chose a £30pm contract, paid £35 for the phone and now have a phone/PDA/sat nav system.

It's a bluetooth GPS receiver so will probably work with other GPS applications too.

Just back from Asda in Slough with a Garmin nuvi 300 for £98.99. I've been keeping an eye on prices for a while and noticed this one had been reduced from £166.00 so had to have one :T . The person that served me said that these had only been put down in price this morning. Sorry, but I didn't think to ask if it was in all stores.

The cheapest online anywhere appears to be £155.00.

    It's this one -

Sounds like a brilliant offer, thanks a lot for sharing.
Does it come with UK maps only or also European maps installed? Does anyone know by now if it available at that price nationwide? Cheers!

It says on the box, UK/Ireland street-level detailed maps.

I hope it is a nationwide deal, there's nothing like a bargain. I could kick myself now for not asking.

It's 202 pounds on the Asda webpage .... so I guess you were lucky in your local store! Enjoy :-)
